Cardinal Kasper: The Catholic Church Must Become Protestant
Ultra liberal Cardinal Walter Kasper, a close adviser to Pope Francis,
writes in L'Osservatore Romano, that "the ecumenical program should be
formulated in the following terms: an evangelical Catholicism and a
Catholic Protestantism." According to him Protestants and Catholics
belong "to the one and only body of Christ, that is the Church". Kasper
concludes, "If we do not want the Churches to empty even more, we need
to focus on the core." He did not specify what he considers to be "the
core".
Experience shows, that Kasper's suggestions are a recipe for disappearing, shrinking or over-aged congregations.
