Francis Is Imposing “New Catholic Morality”
The former director of the Vatican Bank, Ettore Gotti Tedeschi (72), comments in La Verità Francis' non-answer to the Dubia of the four cardinals.According to Tedeschi, Francis' silence is sending two implicit messages. First, "the pope" contradicts himself, because he has invited the cardinals explicitly to speak openly but now refuses to answer the Dubia. Second, he is imposing a “new Catholic morality”, based not on the commandments but on the circumstances created by the world.
In the past the pastors of the Church confirmed the one, absolute and objective truth, Gotti Tedeschi writes. Now they “listen” to a subjective truth open to different interpretations. The new Church, according to him, seems to renounce its teaching “unless it concerns the environment, poverty and immigration”.
In this Church - so Gotti Tedeschi - “circumstance determines doctrine, rather than the contrary”.
