Journey Within…
By: Eric Gajewski
The Journey within is seemingly
treacherous. The narrow path is first
seen amidst the tall forest. Night approaches
and there is no other path to take. Few
shall find this path and even fewer shall complete the journey in this
life. This narrow path is completely
dark upon first entrance. The night has
fallen and the tall trees surroundest thee.
The terrors of the night tried to impede your progress with the evil suggestions.
They are loudest upon first entrance scaring away the majority. They say no man has ever finished this path
turn around at once and flee back toward safety and comfort! Then, within, the man, his own self shalst
rise up against him trying to convince himself there must be an easier
way. Full of doubts, fears and anxieties
a soul must press on.
We must battle the flesh, our
weaknesses and the enemy sometimes all at once.
If we stay in prayer we are safe.
If we look at the nature which surrounds us we may fall. Over time a dim light begins to lighten the
path. We see the sun on the horizon advancing
against the dark. We become more
illuminated and begin to stop looking behind us. We begin to see all the fruits of the wars
won from previous times. With each ray
of light that penetrates our soul we begin to press on with even more fervor
than before. As dawn approaches the
night terrors seem to be heard less and less.
We lose ourselves and continue to press on.
There can be no stagnation nor
retreating on the narrow path. There can
be no looking towards the forest lest we faint away with terror. Eyes down focused on one step at a time in
the dark and when the sun arises to illuminate we can then begin to pick our
head up and see the goal. With each step
a soul labors to fight against self love/will and the enemy. With each step we take we are one step closer
to Union with the Son. On this path of
silence and solitude the majority turn away.
For in this silence they do not like what they hear in their own
heads. On this path of solitude, they do
not like what they see in the shadows in which they walk due to sin. Only the brave and courageous press forward. The journey within is the real world and yet
the majority of Christians spend their time living in this world. They do not want to combat; they do not want
to walk this narrow path of pain and adversity.
However, the fearful shall never arrive at the End. (Apoc 21:8) Infants
cannot walk. Adults can and yet some
refuse to. (Jn 11:10)
