POEM: Pond of Self- Forgetfulness

 POEM: Pond of Self- Forgetfulness
By: Eric Gajewski
1 Corinthians 3: 21-22 “Let no man therefore glory in men. [22] For all things are yours, whether it be Paul, or Apollo, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; for all are yours…”

Please enjoy my latest poem from the work, "Fortress of the Soul"

Die Self Die!

Forget who you were, forget about yourself

Calls the wayward traveler from Life’s hectic Road

Die Self Die!

Is uttered by this Pond of Self-Forgetfulness

For it is not thee in control

But only God’s Water which may bless

Die Self Die!

And be at the side of others

The ripples of these waters profess

Die Self Die!

For all who pass this way fall under the Cross’s stress

Nevertheless, it is in this Test

That we die unto self

And feel the Son up above and His heavenly caress

Die Self Die!

All ye who seek in Love to progress

For wherest ye would say distress

Love’s reflection would otherwise confess

Die Self Die!

For how else will an eagle resurrect?

How else will thy wings express?

For it is only thy image of thyself which oppress

Die Self Die!

Where else will the world be suppressed?

Where else can you slow down enough to reassess?

Die Self Die!

Did you expect another way outside of solitude and silence?

For there are only Few who stop by this Pond, no less

Come bury thy Will beneath thy sin’s created mess

For the Road of Life is full if busied and distracted travelers

Who only Love themselves unto death...
