The Curious Incident of the Muslim Fox(es) in the Catholic Henhouse
SOURCE
We reported last month about a presentation on “refugee resettlement” held at St. Ann Catholic Church in Arlington, Virginia. The event was entitled “Refugee Resettlement in the U.S.: A National and Local Humanitarian Response”, and was in effect a joint venture of the federal government and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
It turns out that St. Ann’s Islam-friendly activism runs much deeper than I realized. In particular, the connections of Marie Powell with the Ummah should raise eyebrows among her fellow Catholics — assuming there are any such in Arlington who still believe in God and Jesus Christ.
Ms. Powell, as you may recall, sponsored the event. She also warned attendees ahead of time that they were not allowed to record or write about the presentation:
Sources who were present say there was an implied attempt to intimidate attendees into keeping the presentation off the record. Marie Powell told the audience that they were “not allowed to write or blog about the event.” The leaders explicitly said “no press coverage” several times. They forbade any taping of the event.Fortunately, at least one person in the audience disobeyed her orders and taped the proceedings.
Our English correspondent Seneca III is currently visiting the former colonies. A few days ago he had the occasion to spend a little time in Northern Virginia, the Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy. While he was there he did a little digging into the St. Ann Church and the Powell family. His report is below.

Preamble
Investigative journalism is neither an art nor a science, but a bit of both embedded in a matrix of intuition and flavoured with a soupçon of healthy cynicism.
In the normal course of events something subliminal catches the journalist’s attention, something that doesn’t ring true, is not quite right within its context or is totally out of its time and place. Combined with this, when overt secrecy or censorship enter stage left, the journalist’s mental red flags pop up above the parapet. Hence, when that happens, his or her principal tools come into play, a series of well-established hypothetical questions such as ‘Where and why there?’, ‘For what or whose purpose?’ and, of course, the eternal penetrators, ‘Cui bono?, or, ‘To whose ultimate benefit?’.
Yet, whilst most times these questions remain unanswered and merely create a sense of unease, an undefinable, insubstantial, mental itch that comes to nothing, fortune, in the form of happenstance, does pass everywhere, and can often take a hand. Such is what happened with respect to the recent goings on at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Arlington.
Happenstance
A few days after GoV first raised this issue I arrived in the USA on a long planned vacation/reunion with some elderly family friends who can no longer travel to the UK to see us. I landed at Dulles and before hiring a car and heading North I spent a few days in the Arlington area with some other friends whom I also haven’t seen in quite a while, the widow and family of an old US military colleague from days long gone.
They are a Catholic family, although not congregants of St. Ann’s, as they worship at the Cathedral of Saint Thomas Moore, also in Arlington (I had asked them if they attended St. Ann’s and explained to them why I was asking). However, on my next to last evening before heading off, they gave a small dinner party and invited some friends who had once been congregants of St. Ann’s and who knew it and its history very well indeed.
I won’t go into precise detail as to what these caring, gentle people told me because they still live in that community and wish to do so at peace and in harmony with their friends and fellow congregants, but they pointed me most emphatically to the ‘hinge pin’ of the recent Islamic takeover of St. Ann’s Church, towards the one whose provenance lit for me a lamp which illuminated a road that could be followed to a surprising yet, in the final analysis, very unsurprising destination.
N.B. All bold in this article is mine.— S III
The presentation was led by Anastasia Brown, the Director of the Division of Refugee Services in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement. Ms. Brown is also the former Director of Refugee Programs for Migration and Refugee Services of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. That this pair of hatchet-faced harridans appear to have had an overwhelming politically ideological and financial interest in importing another swarm of rocket scientists and brain surgeons ready to assimilate into American life and culture is an obvious given, and thus it could, indeed probably was, why attention has been solely focused upon them and their motivations rather than those of the supposedly minor player, one Marie A. Powell:
She was assisted by Patricia S. Maloof, the Program Director of Migration and Refugee Services of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington.

Marie Powell has a son by the name of Conor Miles, once a well-liked lad and an easygoing young man who went to high school with the children of my new friends and is fondly remembered by them from those days. However, times changed, young Conor became Conor the man and in due course a Fox journalist:
Conor Powell joined FOX News Channel (FNC) in 2009 and serves as a Jerusalem-based foreign correspondent.
Most recently in 2014, Powell reported live from Gaza City to cover the Israel/Gaza conflict. He has also provided live coverage from Jerusalem on the attack in Syria, as well as from Tahrir Square, where he reported on the civil uprisings and the removal of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. From 2009-2012, he covered the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, and the War in Afghanistan from the nation’s capital, Kabul.
Prior to joining FNC, Powell was a reporter for WJLA-TV (ABC 8) in Washington, D.C., where he covered Congress and the 2008 Presidential election. He began his career at KNDO-TV (NBC 23) in Yakima, WA, and reported on a wide range of stories such as immigration, and local and state elections, including the 2006 Senate race between business executive Mike McGavick and Sen. Maria Cantwell.
Powell graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a B.A. in international studies and received an M.A. in social and political science from Cambridge University in England.[2]
In July 2012 Conor Miles Powell married[3] one Atia Abawi[4] (a one-time CNN journalist by then working for NBC) at Morven Park, an extremely salubrious and expensive wedding venue in Leesburg, Va[5]. An imam, Yahya Hendi, officiated and the Rev. Donald Greenhalgh, a Roman Catholic priest, participated. Several interlinked and interesting threads can be extracted from this event as follows:
1. This was a formal and binding Muslim wedding; hence Conor Powell must have converted to Islam prior to plighting his troth.
2. The Imam Yahya Hendi gets a broad public exposure and has been received by President Barrack Hussein Obama; Hendi made it clear to the President as to what his final objective, normally hidden by the fluff of his ‘Inter-religious dialogue’ meme, actually is [6];
“Imam Yahya Hendi and President Obama3. The Roman Catholic priest who ‘participated’ in the Muslim wedding ceremony was the Reverend Donald C. Greenhalgh, one time Chaplain of St. Ann’s but as of June 2013 was[7]:
“In June of 2008, Imam Yahya Hendi called on Muslims to take President Barak Obama seriously and start a process of dialogue with the West. Now and in 2011, Imam Hendi urges the U.S. Administration to display even-handedness in handling the Mid-East conflict by uniting for peace in the Middle East. Hence, “I pray that President Obama stands for Palestinians right to self-determination and a state. I hope he stands for Palestine to finally take its rightful place among other nations of the world.”
[More on this subject later — S III]
Retired Reverend Donald C. Greenhalgh — from Pastor of the Church of Saint Ann in Arlington to Pastor Emeritus at the Church of Saint Mary of Sorrows in Fairfax.”Now this move could be nothing other than a normal movement of clergy within the Church to meet changing needs. However, this particular one is significant in as much as Reverend Greenhalgh was retired to ‘Pastor Emeritus at the Church of Saint Mary of Sorrows in Fairfax.” and Fairfax, VA, just happens to be located 9.7 miles from Chantilly, VA, where the exceedingly wealthy Abawi family maintain a substantial residence (one of many, including in Arlington, see [8] below).
(Clergy Appointments June 2013. 2013-06-08 — The Most Reverend Paul S. Loverde, Bishop of Arlington, has announced the following clergy appointments effective on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, except where noted differently.)
Hmm? — nice little sinecure you appear to have there, Father, if I may be so rude as to point it out!
The Powell and Abawi families
1. The husband of Marie A. Powell and father of Conor, John M. Powell, is retired from a legal practice where he was in partnership with Elizabeth R. Cheyney in the firm Powell & Cheyney, a firm which appears to have been quite small with relatively little revenue per Manta [9]:
Powell John MThere is equally sparse information in the public domain concerning Mr. Powell’s partner, Ms. Elizabeth R. Cheyney, other than that she is a member of a Bar Association… and — you may have guessed it — it’s the FAIRFAX Bar Association — Fairfax again, the virtual epicentre of this whole convoluted, secretive, serpentine construct!

Categorized under Lawyers and Attorneys. Our records show it was established in 2006 and incorporated in Virginia. Current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of less than $500,000 and employs a staff of approximately 1 to 4.
2. Abdul Wahid, the apparent patriarch of the Abawi family, is no more exposed in the public domain than the Powells and Ms. Cheyney. It is recorded that he has multiple homes throughout the US but principally in Virginia and specifically in Chantilly and Fairfax, and that his wife Mahnaz Ishmail Abawi teaches languages in Rosslyn VA, 16 miles from Fairfax just beyond Arlington and across the Potomac from Georgetown University where, quite coincidentally I’m sure, the Imam Yahya Hendi is the Muslim Chaplain[6].
“The bride’s father works** for the Cubic Corporation[11], a San Diego military, transportation and logistics contractor. Her mother teaches Pashto and Dari in Rosslyn, Va., for International Communication Associates, a language school.”
**He did work there in 2012 at the time of the wedding but apparently no longer; current occupation and specific whereabouts unknown — S III.
[Comment: I’ve been digging about in the lower intestines of the Jihad and its NWO enablers for nigh on a quarter century and in that time and I’ve seen quite a few unholy alliances but this one, the Powell-Abawi axis, is a classic in a league of its own]
Back to the once all American boy, Conor Powell, now little more than a shill for the new jihad
1. In January 2014 Conor Powell was found to be inventing news and distorting history to favour the aims of the Intifada; he was outed by other journalists and later reprimanded by his own organisation for this betrayal of his journalistic ethics (if any).
When reporting the death of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Saturday, Fox News foreign correspondent Conor Powell invented his own version of Middle East history:2. And again in September 2014:
Sharon is being described today as a great defender of Israel, a former soldier turned politician. And really considered the last of the great Israeli leaders here in Israel. Willing to make tough decisions. At the height of his you power being [sic] he suffered a debilitating stroke and has been hanging on in a coma for the past eight years. He was controversial, both loved and hated here in Israel. Hailed as both a war hero and as a war criminal. In 2000, His actions helped spark the second Palestinian uprising in 2000 when he pushed past security and entered the Al Aqsa Mosque, one of Islam’s most sacred places. During the violence, thousands of Israelis and Palestinians died.Powell made three errors in the above paragraph. First, Sharon never pushed past security to enter the Al Aqsa Mosque. In fact, he never entered the Mosque at all. He merely went up to the Temple Mount.
Sharon detractors invented the story that Sharon’s trip to the Temple Mount caused the Intifada. In the two months between the end of the Camp David peace talks in July 2000 and the beginning of the Intifada in September, Israel began to warn that Arafat was preparing mass violence. Even Arafat’s widow admitted that it had nothing to do with Sharon:
Yasser Arafat had made a decision to launch the Intifada. Immediately after the failure of the Camp David [negotiations], I met him in Paris upon his return, in July 2001 [sic]. Camp David has failed, and he said to me: “You should remain in Paris.” I asked him why, and he said: “Because I am going to start an Intifada. The final error is one of omission, Powell talks about the Mosque being one of Islam’s most sacred places, but he neglects to mention that it is the most sacred place for the Jews. If he had done his homework, Powell might even have mentioned that ancient Muslim Text (Koran, Sura 2:145, “The Cow”) recognizes that the Temple Mount is holy to the Jews.[12]
POSTED ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2014 BY SCOTT JOHNSON IN ARAB ISRAEL CONFLICT, MEDIA, TERRORISMAll of this leaves little doubt in my mind that Connor Powell, and perhaps the rest of his immediate family have gone over to the dark side, possibly even for money, and thus the Islamisation of the United States of American proceeds apace, aided and abetted by a fifth column buried deep within its political, legal and ecumenical establishments. May God help us all.
On Special Report with Bret Baier last night, Conor Powell reported on the killing by Israeli forces of two Hamas members suspected in the murder of the three Israeli teens. In his first pass at describing the relationship of Hamas to the kidnapping, I believe that Powell conveyed Hamas’s denial of involvement. I think a second reference later in the report may have backtracked on the issue. (I can’t find a video of Powell’s report online; I will update this post if possible and correct this post if necessary.)
Anyone who has followed this story knows that Hamas has long since admitted its responsibility for the kidnapping despite its initial denials. Here, for example, is the AP report. I tweeted Powell to point this out, hoping he might respond (and let me know if I was mistaken). As with my first whack at it during the Gaza war, no such luck. Powell seems to me to be about one degree of separation from doing public relations for Hamas. As a viewer of FOX News, I wonder how it happens to be that Powell’s colleagues don’t seem to have noticed[13]
Summary
This is arguably the most tangled web I have ever poked an inquisitive finger into, and even now much of it remains tangled and out of sight. As I am on the move again on the morrow I must leave it to others, perhaps from amongst you GoV readers, to take it from here. So good luck, and if it’s any help here is a short list of known unknowns, which hopefully won’t remain unknown for too much longer:
1. | In the NYT wedding announcement Conor and Atia gave a romantic account of their courtship in Afghanistan during the conflict[3] and in one paragraph they claimed…
“They spent Valentine’s Day alongside Marines in combat. Embedded
with separate units during a major operation to drive the Taliban out of
the Marjah district, and with limited e-mail access, they worried about
each other’s safety.” …so it would be interesting if there any former Leathernecks out there who have a recollection of this period. |
|
2. | What was the precise purpose and business of the tiny and relatively impecunious law firm Powell & Cheyney, and where are and what are the principals doing now?
3. | Have any members of these two families donated to the Clinton Foundation?
4. | What, if any, connections do the Imam Yahya Hendi and the Fox News journalist Conor Powell have with the State Department’s proscribed Terrorist organisation Hamas?
5. | How comfortably is the good Father Greenhalgh enjoying his retirement in Fairfax?
6. | When are all those poor, peaceful Muslim migrants going to arrive in Arlington and where will they stay and are the good people of Arlington going to have to foot the long-term bill?
7. | Did the premier pair of Harridans and/or Ms. Powell Snr. benefit financially from this devious exercise?
8. | Anything else you can think of. |
