The Church Fathers thought of Genesis 3:15 as a miniature Gospel. The Fathers taught that Jesus was the seed of the woman in Genesis 3:15
as He is the only human born without a human father. Christ is the new
Adam and The Blessed Virgin is the new Eve. There are multiple
references to this prophecy in the Old Testament. Saint Elizabeth was
the first person to prophecy this in the New Testament at the
Visitation, to which Mary responded: "henceforth all generations shall
call me blessed" (Luke 1:48).
