Strange Lights in L.A, Supervolcano About to Erupt & New Hurricane Threats
In addition more quakes in New Madrid area and frightening sinkholes in Brazil
Locals in Los Angeles have been baffled by bizarre lights
appearing in the California sky. Videos emerged of flashes in the night
sky unaccompanied by thunder causing bemusement amongst the residents of
the City of Angels. YouTuber Kevin Mize sharing the video online, on
September 9, after being puzzled by the ethereal sky sparks. He said: “Strange lights definitely not
lightning with no thunder accompanying this.
“This went on for at least a
half hour through the clouds looking east from our front yard in
Granada Hills. “Please shed some light here that definitely looks extra
terrestrial.” One commentor suggested: “Yeah I seen it last night might
be a weather cloud or military doing some weapon test.” READ MORE
3.6 magnitude earthquake near Westwood jolts parts of L.A.
Scientists have found the first direct evidence of a
so-called ‘hot zone’ feeding a supervolcano in southern Italy that
experts say is nearing eruption conditions. Campi Flegrei is a volcanic
caldera to the west of Naples that last erupted centuries ago. The area
has been relatively quiet since the 1980s when the injection of either
magma or fluids in the shallower structure of the volcano caused a
series of small
earthquakes. Using seismological techniques, scientists have now
pinpointed the location of the hot zone where hot materials rose to feed
the caldera during this period. The study was led by Dr Luca De Siena
at the University of Aberdeen in conjunction with the INGV Osservatorio
Vesuviano, the RISSC lab of the University of Naples, and the University
of Texas at Austin. The research provides a benchmark that may help
predict how and where future eruptions could strike. READ MORE
Severe storm kills 8, injures at least 140 in western Romania
A severe storm that swept over parts of Croatia and Serbia
on Saturday and Sunday, September 17, 2017, killed 8 people and injured
at least 140 as it reached western Romania late Sunday. Most of those

DEVELOPING: 2 Powerful Hurricanes Churning Toward U.S. East Coast and Puerto Rico
More hurricanes are churning through the Atlantic Ocean on a
possible collision course with U.S. territory. Hurricane Maria is
bearing down on the Caribbean. It’s on course to pass close to several
islands that were devastated by Hurricane Irma, including Barbuda and
St. Martin’s. Then it’s expected to target Puerto Rico with a
devastating direct hit on Wednesday, followed by the Dominican Republic
and Haiti. Maria strengthened into a dangerous Category 3 storm
Monday, and forecasters expect it to grow into an even more powerful
Category 4.”This storm promises to be catastrophic for our island,”
Ernesto Morales with the U.S. National Weather Service in San Juan said.
“All of Puerto Rico will experience hurricane force winds.” READ MORE
Hurricane Maria now category 5, Islands brace for impact
Hurricane Maria was upgraded to a Category 5 storm, the
National Hurricane Center said Monday night, as islands including Puerto
Rico brace for the impact. Maria is anticipated to approach the Virgin
Islands and Puerto Rico on Wednesday. The storm might make landfall on
the eastern side of Puerto Rico and could bring major damage to the U.S.
territory late Wednesday morning and into the afternoon — two
weeks to the day since Hurricane Irma tore through Puerto Rico,
killing at least three. At 8 p.m. ET on Monday night the center of the
storm was located about 15 miles east-southeast of Dominica as it closed
in on the Caribbean island. Sustained winds were up to 160 mph as the
storm moved west-northwest at 9 mph. Evacuation orders have been issued
for parts of Puerto Rico. READ MORE
The wildfires are so intense in Western US and Canada that smoke drifted all the way to Europe in 4 days
On September 5, 2017, residents of the Pacific Northwest awoke to ash falling from the sky like snow.
But even as ash hit the ground, wildfires burning across the western
United States and Canada lofted smoke high into the atmosphere. Some of
it drifted all the way to Europe.
I’m always amazed when events on one continent can have
effects halfway around the world. And this exactly what is happening
right now with the furious wildfires raging along the US and Canada West
Coasts.
Within 4 days – Sept 4 to 7 – smoke clouds emanating from these large
fires made their ways to Europe, crossing the entire North American
continent and the Atlantic Ocean! That’s amazing!

What’s shown in the maps is the smoke’s intercontinental journey,
depicted by the relative aerosol concentrations, with lower
concentrations in yellow and higher concentrations in dark orange-brown.
They were collected between September 4 and 7 by the Ozone Mapping
Profiler Suite (OMPS) on the Suomi NPP satellite.
On September 4, the smoke appears to have arrived over the U.S. Midwest. via EO
The sources of the high concentrations of aerosols are in the Pacific
Northwest. They were carried across the continent and the Atlantic
Ocean by high-altitude winds.
By September 5 the smoke reached Newfoundland in Canada. via EOOn September 4, the smoke appears to have arrived over the U.S. Midwest, and by September 5 it reached Newfoundland. By September 6, the smoke cloud is obvious over the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

It is not that uncommon for smoke from fires in North America to reach Europe. But this year, the smoke clouds reaching Europe seem to be larger and thicker as well as more persistent. Large fires in mid-August sent smoke to Europe that hung around for days.

Meanwhile, these wildfires are still burning. It is going to take awhile for everything to dissipate.

epicenter of today’s quake is situated at the border between the X and
the IX zones, so right in the hotspot, just northwest of Evansville:
Zones of damage of a BIG ONE along the New Madrid Seismic Zone. The darker the red, the more damage created.
