Fashion shows are constantly being criticized for their use of either underweight or overweight models, or models who in some way don’t represent the general population. Now new photos have emerged of a show that many feel has just totally crossed the line: Girls who appear to be as young as 5 have walked the runway in a Victoria Secret–style fashion show in China.


The shocking images show that the children were wearing nothing but lingerie, costume wings, and headpieces — all in front of a very snap-happy crowd. The show was held at a shopping mall in Chengdu City, in southwest China’s Sichuan province. READ MORE

(WDRB 41) How can a parent know if their child is transgender? What separates a young boy who might be transgender from one with a vivid imagination who likes to dress up in his sister’s dresses? What do you do if your daughter tells you she’s a boy? The Associated Press spoke to gender experts to answer some of parents’ most commonly asked questions. “My answer is, we don’t know,” says Diane Ehrensaft, a developmental and clinical psychologist, director of mental health
at the University of California, San Francisco’s Child and Adolescent Gender Center and author of “The Gender Creative Child.” “What we know is, you have a son who likes princess dresses. I would say get him the dresses. Have your child feel free to choose. Maybe they’ll stop wearing dresses. DAYS OF LOT: Transgender day camp among first to include 4-year-olds

In some ways, California’s Rainbow Day Camp is very conventional, with kids making friendship bracelets, playing basketball and singing songs. But in other ways, it’s extraordinary unique. The day camp in El Cerrito, in the San Francisco Bay Area, caters to transgender and “gender fluid’ children, ages 4 to 12. Experts say it’s one of the only camps of its kind in the world open to preschoolers.
Rainbow officials say the camp gives kids a safe, fun place to be themselves. The camp’s enrollment has tripled since it opened in 2015, and plans are underway to open a branch next summer in Colorado. Gender experts say Rainbow’s rapid growth reflects what they’re seeing in gender clinics around the country: an increasing number of kids coming out as transgender at young ages. CONTINUE
