WE HAVE MOVED!

"And I beheld, and heard the voice of one eagle flying through the midst of heaven,
saying with a loud voice: Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth....

Beware the neo-conservative spin on Fatima

Beware the neo-conservative spin on Fatima
The Diocese of Phoenix has just launched a six-month long program to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady at Fatima.
In the video below, Bishop Thomas Olmsted (who is held in high regard by neo-conservative Catholics) provides an overview of the effort that even some of my tradition-minded friends have applauded.

Pay close attention to what is being sold here and you will discover that it has all the hallmarks of the diabolical.
Now, don’t get me wrong; I’m not accusing Bishop Olmsted of being a covert agent of the Evil One, but I am here to say that Satan’s fingerprints, objectively speaking, are all over this tangled web of half-truths and outright lies.
The video begins with Bishop Olmsted recounting some of the more noteworthy events of the 20th century – the Second World War; the rise of Communism, the attack on marriage and family, and, of course, “an assassination attempt on the Holy Father John Paul II on May 13, 1981.”
Bishop Olmsted then asks rhetorically:
“Did you know that all of these events were prophesized by a woman 100 years ago? Who is she? Mary the Mother of God.”
The Devil is clever indeed, but he is also consistent; mixing truth with lies in order to deceive.
Yes, Our Blessed Lady did foretell of WWII and warn that the errors of Russia would spread (unless… and we’ll get to this in a moment), but nowhere did she speak of “an assassination attempt” on the pope.
According to the alleged text of the Third Secret as released by the Holy See in the year 2000, Sr. Lucia recounted the following vision:
“The Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him…”
As even a child can see; the vision above, wherein the pope is killed,  bears little resemblance to the events of May 13, 1981.
Repeat a lie often enough and people will believe it.
We might also say:
Omit crucial information often enough and people will forget it.
On this note, Bishop Olmsted continued:
“[Mary] also gave them [the three Fatima] visionaries concrete ways to stop and even restore what would be lost … through the practices of penance and prayer.”
Certainly, the Blessed Virgin did call individuals to prayer, penance and acts of reparation, but she also spoke very clearly about Our Lord’s desire concerning the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart and the dire consequences we would face if this request was not met.
Sure, this video is but a two-and-a-half minute invitation to “join in the celebration,” but I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Bishop Olmsted has no intention of calling anyone’s attention to this particular elephant in the room.
As for the invitation itself, Bishop Olmsted says:
“I’m inviting you to join me along with thousands of other Catholics and people of goodwill to explore and implement the teachings revealed by Our Lady of Fatima.”
Not only is the Devil consistent, so too is the Bishop Olmsted; at least insofar as his passion for modern-day ecumenism is concerned.
As such, it comes as no surprise that he wants to gather along with non-Catholics (so-called “people of goodwill”), many of whom presumably consider Marian devotion a form of idolatry, to “implement the teachings revealed by Our Lady of Fatima.”
Truth be told, if the “teachings” of Fatima could be summed up in a single phrase it would be the necessity of conversion.
Yes, this includes “conversion” in the sense of individual Catholics confessing their sins and amending their lives, but it also means the conversion to the one true Faith of both individuals and nations.
Again, I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that Bishop Olmsted has no intention of letting those “people of goodwill” know that their eternal lives will remain in grave jeopardy unless they renounce their errors and enter into the Holy Catholic Church which is necessary for salvation.
So, if not a call to conversion, what are the objectives of the diocese’s six-month celebration of Fatima?
Bishop Olmsted tells us:
Our objectives are simple; we will use this time for prayer, penance and evangelization in a particular way to encourage family prayer. Our specific intentions will be the following:
– The end to abortion and all violence against the most innocent and vulnerable
– An increase in vocations to priesthood and religious life, and
– The strengthening of the vocation of married life
Top of the list, of course, is the end of abortion!
This makes sense, because, you see, the human embryo is the false god of ecumenism. If Jesus Christ was the focus, the call to conversion to the one true Church, the one that He Himself established, would naturally take precedence; just as it does always and everywhere for Our Lady.
(And guess what? Conversion is the only answer to the scourge of abortion.)
Bishop Olmsted concludes by saying:
“Let us accompany Our Lady of Fatima in the way that she asked the three young children to do through prayer and penance praying the rosary every day for the conversion of hearts and peace in the world.”
At first blush, these are pleasant sounding words, and yet consider:
Our Lady requested prayers and sacrifices “for the conversion of sinners.” She spoke of how much Our Lord is offended by sin. She warned of the consequences of sin.
While there is nothing inherently offensive about seeking the “conversion of hearts,” given the source, I suspect that Our Lady’s request, for whatever reason, was deliberately reworded.
No matter, I suppose, given that Bishop Olmsted doesn’t appear to consider it a sin or an offense against God to reject the Holy Catholic faith.
And then there is the matter of peace, again…
Indeed Our Lady asked that we pray the Rosary daily for peace, but she made it entirely clear that we can expect the opposite unless and until the Holy Father, in union with the bishops of the world, consecrates Russia to her Immaculate Heart.
So, long story short, my friends, be vigilant. Don’t be lulled to sleep by half-truths and outright lies concerning the Fatima message. We can be certain that they will abound in this year, and we must expose them for what they are at every turn.
On this note, I will conclude by saying that while the canonizations of Jacinta and Francisco are a cause for joy, there can be no doubt that the enemies of Fatima, like Francis, would like nothing better than for this to lead the naïve to overlook Rome’s egregious, and continuous, falsification of Our Lady’s message.
Stay alert and remain watchful.
