John Kerry and Cardinal Pietro Parolin address global issues surrounding refugees and migrants
On Monday, US Secretary of State, John Kerry met with Holy See Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin in New York at
a summit aimed at combating global issues surrounding refugees and
migrants at the United Nations. Both leaders addressed a range of global
problems and the humanitarian situation in Syria.

"Humanitarian
assistance is moving today to some eight different locations, but we're
waiting to get the full download from our team that is meeting now with
the Russians in Geneva. That process is continuing, and we'll see where
we are in the course of the day. Thank you.”
The Secretaries reaffirmed their mutual interests in preventing further religious and ethnic persecutions of minorities.
Secretary Kerry and Cardinal Parolin also expressed a concern for the migrants and
the need to support the commitments made at the Refugee Summit. Later,
Secretary Kerry commended the efforts of the Holy See and Pope Francis to bring the refugee crisis to the world’s attention.
