While Islam prohibits men to use eyeliners, it is permissible in Islam to use Kohl (a certain eyeliner). Sounds strange? Indeed.
The Prophet Mohammed used kohl and commanded others to use it because he believed that it was beneficial for the eyes and it is used by Muslim men today during Ramadan as a sign of devotion. They are encouraged to make their hair long (like women) just as Revelations 9:8 warned about and even to use Henna (red dye) and shave their armpits just as women do.
