The Remnant crew are controlled opposition, and have been since at least the time the Southern Poverty Law Centre put them in their sights. Michael Matt admitted installing a $20,000 security system at his home after the SPLC published a "hate map" of the U.S. which included the Remnant. Matt is simply not intellectually equipped to edit the flagship traditional Catholic publication in the States. His writings are devoid of serious argument, and are mostly embarrassingly maudlin laments about the state of the world and the state of the Church. However in spite of his rather gauche persona, he is not above turning very spiteful when crossed. For example he frequently resorts to vulgar personal abuse of those traditionalists who disagree with the Remnant line. If that doesn't work he bars them from his site - though he has repeatedly falsely claimed that his site doesn't block contributors. Because he is an intellectual lightweight he shies away from real argument, preferring the absurdly facile route of dismissing well-reasoned criticism as "trolling". My family supported the Remnant financially for years and we deeply regret it now. Matt is not an honourable man, and his publication is not worthy of Catholic support.
