WE HAVE MOVED!

"And I beheld, and heard the voice of one eagle flying through the midst of heaven,
saying with a loud voice: Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth....

Jesus, “both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36)

Jesus, “both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36)

Fr. Campbell

Preaching on the first Pentecost, St. Peter, our first Pope and Holy Father, assured his listeners:

“Therefore, let all the house of Israel know most assuredly that God has made both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified” (Acts 2:36).

St. Paul was “the least of the apostles”, at least in his own eyes (1Cor.15:9). But he was chosen to preach the Gospel by Jesus Christ Himself, and to tell us that “Jesus is Lord” (1Cor.12:3b).

What a privilege was theirs to hand on the Faith of the Holy Catholic Church at the command of Our Lord. Now it is our turn to hand on that Faith, and to be zealous defenders of our Lord Jesus Christ in these days of blasphemy and apostasy. It is time for us to take up arms.

Our Lord is hated and blasphemed. His enemies seek do destroy Him, and to wipe out even the remembrance of His Name from the earth. His commands are disobeyed, His teachings are contradicted, His miracles are denied, and His Holy Catholic Church is being strangled. The Holy Mass has become no more than a Protestant prayer meeting, and not even that reverent. The Sacraments are all changed, and morals are degraded to the extent that good is now considered evil, and evil considered good. The media are making war on Jesus Christ and His Church, and on the Christian life. Sadly, even the little children are being corrupted in their schools, from the earliest grades.

St. Paul warned us today about going “to dumb idols”. In the city of Detroit only a few days ago, a satanic monument, of Masonic design, was dedicated to the devil by a large crowd of Satanists, during which the satanic “priest” hurled blasphemous insults at God and crushed the holy Crucifix under his feet. Our Lord is now suffering in His Mystical Body, the Church, more than ever before. Catholics all over the world are being persecuted, churches are being destroyed, and many are being martyred. The words of the prophetic psalm, which Jesus quoted as He died on the Cross, come to mind:

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me, far from my prayer, from the words of my cry? O my God, I cry out by day, and you answer not; by night, and there is no relief for me… I am like water poured out; all my bones are racked. My heart has become like wax melting away within my bosom. My throat is dried up like baked clay, my tongue cleaves to my jaws; in the dust of earth you have brought me down. Indeed many dogs surround me, a pack of evildoers closes in upon me; they have pierced my hands and my feet; I can count all my bones” (Ps.21:2,3;15-17).

We must come to the defense of Our Divine Lord. There is no way that we can sit back and let these things happen without a fight. All of us, whether young or old, must take up the armor of God and go into battle. Either you fight for your faith, or you will lose it, along with your chance of being saved from everlasting damnation. Our enemies are not going to stop now. They are on a roll, crushing everything that remains of good sense and Christian decency in our already corrupt society. They will target everything Christian, and it will not be fun. Our Lord warned us about the Great Persecution that is even now taking place:

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation, and will put you to death; and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away, and will betray one another, and will hate one another. And many false prophets will arise, and will lead many astray. And because iniquity will abound, the charity of many will grow cold. But whoever perseveres to the end, he shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world, for a witness to all nations; and then will come the end…” (Mt.24:8b-14).

The false prophets use ridicule in order to destroy our faith. But they have nothing to offer us in its place. Nothing! They are unbelievers, cynical, sadistic, filled with hate. In their wake they leave only confusion and despair.

But why should we be afraid? We have something far greater than the world has to offer.  We have the certainty of faith. Our holy religion was revealed to us by God Himself, first through the prophets, and then “last of all in these days (He) has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the world” (Heb.1:2b).

We believe because God revealed it, and God does not lie! God cannot lie because he is Absolute Truth. And God can’t be deceived, because He knows all things. We don’t even know ourselves sometimes. But God knows us through and through:

“O Lord, you have probed me and you know me; you know when I sit and when I stand; you understand my thoughts from afar. My journeys and my rests you scrutinize, with all my ways you are familiar… Where can I go from your spirit? From your presence where can I flee? If I go up to the heavens, you are there, if I sink to the nether world, you are present there. Even if I take the wings of the dawn, if I settle at the farthest limits of the sea, even there your hand shall guide me, and your right hand hold me fast” (Ps,138:1-3;7-10).

St. Paul also has these remarkable words for us:

“Now we know that for those who love God all things work together unto good, for those who, according to his purpose, are saints through his call. For those whom he has foreknown he has also predestined to become conformed to the image of his Son, that he should be the firstborn among many brethren. And those whom he has predestined, them he has also called; and those whom he has called, them he has also justified, and those whom he has justified, them he has also glorified” (Rom.8:28-30).

Don’t give up the fight, “For you have not yet resisted unto blood in the struggle against sin” (Heb.12:4). Therefore, “Put on the armor of God” (Eph.6:11), and “Fight the good fight of faith” (1Tim.6:12).
