Archbishop Lefebvre & the Jesus Mary Chapel - El Paso, TX
Jesus
& Mary Church & Convent in El Paso, Texas, has been
purchased by Fr. Bolduc, Superior of the South-West District
of the Society of St. Pius X in America. El Paso has had a
congregation of traditional Catholics for five years, under
the coordination of Mr. Toby Tovar. Their chapel was
served for several years by priests stationed in Dickinson and recently
by priests from Phoenix. Fr. Regis Babinet, a native of
France, who speaks fluent Spanish, will now assume the duties
as pastor at Jesus & Mary Church. The former convent
will now be used as a seminary for the Society of St. Pius X.
Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre dedicated the complex on Sunday,
January 4th. He also conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation
on 200 that afternoon. He was assisted at the confirmation
ceremonies by Mr. Robert Mayer, seminarian from Ridgefield, Conn.
His Grace met with priests of the South-West District on Monday, the 5th of January, the day before he left for a three week tour of Mexico, where it was expected that he would confirm in excess of 5,000! Pictured with His Grace are: 1st row, left to right—Sisters Mary Raphael and Mary Grace, of Queen of Angels, Dickinson; His Grace; Father Philipe Demouliere of Our Lady of Grace in Kenner, Louisiana; Fr. Regis Babinet, new pastor in El Paso; 2nd row, left to right: Fr. Peter Tran Van Khoat of Port Arthur, Texas; Fr. Philip Stark and Fr. Carl Pulvermacher of Queen of Angels; Fr. Terence Finnegan, Pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows in Phoenix; last row, left to right: Fr. Hector Bolduc, District Superior; Fr. Joseph Collins, Headmaster of St. Mary's Academy in St. Marys, Kansas; and, Robert Mayer, seminarian from St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary, Ridgefield, Connecticut.
A
happy moment in El Paso! Archbishop Lefebvre is shown visiting
with Fr. Bolduc who is also Editor of THE ANGELUS, and with
Fr. Carl Pulvermacher, the Managing Editor.
Pictured
at the right, Father Carl shows His Grace some of the recent
projects of the Angelus Press, including a pamphlet entitled Liberalism, which was a lecture given by Archbishop Lefebvre.
The next major project of the Angelus Press is the publication
of the book, I ACCUSE THE COUNCIL, which was written by the
Archbishop during Vatican Council II. It has never been
published in English and plans call for a May 1st
date of completion! Father Philip Stark, Associate Editor of
the Angelus Press, is fluent in French and has prepared the
translation of this most important volume. Watch for it!
Left
to right: Father Joseph Collins who was ordained to the
priesthood last June, and who is now Headmaster of St. Mary's
Academy, in addition to traveling a Mass circuit; Father Philip
Stark, a recent and very welcome addition to the staff of the
Angelus Press. Father Stark is stationed at Queen of Angels in
Dickinson, Texas, and travels a very extensive Mass circuit.
Father Hector L. Bolduc, Superior of the South-West District, makes his
headquarters at Saint Mary's. During the month of January, he
has traveled with the Archbishop in Mexico and has said that he
will have a report on that trip for us next month!
