ONE WORLD RELIGION WATCH: Francis Wants to Join Methodists "in the Breaking of the Bread"
Christians in "our respective communities" may "strengthen one another
by our witness to the faith" according to Pope Francis during a meeting
with a delegation of the World Methodist Council on October 19.
Methodists and Catholics do not share the same faith.
Francis praised John Wesley (+1791), the founder of the Methodists, for helping others to “live a holy life” and asked to pray that "we will be able to join one another in the breaking of the bread”, a term the Protestants use in order to express that in their liturgy no consecration takes place.
