Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro called on his nation’s
military leaders Tuesday to prepare for war against the U.S. days after
the Trump administration banned Venezuelan officials from entering the nation. “We
have been shamelessly threatened by the most criminal empire that ever
existed and we have the obligation to prepare ourselves to guarantee
peace,” said Maduro, who wore a green uniform and a military hat as he spoke with his army top brass during a military exercise involving tanks and missiles. “We need to have rifles, missiles and well-oiled tanks at
the ready….to defend every inch of the territory if needs be,” he
added.
The Trump administration has taken a hard stance against Maduro’s regime by banning money lending to Venezuela’s government or its state oil company PDVSA, and passing sanctions against Maduro and his top officials.Maduro referenced the sanctions during his speech at the military base. Russia launches intercontinental ballistic missile with warhead
Russia has successfully fired an intercontinental ballistic
missile, Moscow’s Defence Ministry has said. The RS-12M Topol
successfully hit its target at a range in Kazakhstan as tensions with
North Korea’s crackpot despot Kim Jong-un threaten to boil over. The
warhead test took place at the Kapustin Yar range in Russia’s southern
Astrakhan Region. It could be a warning shot to Kim Jong-un as the test
comes just a day after his henchmen accused President Donald Trump of declaring war on North Korea. Officials said the test data would be used to develop prospective means of breaching “enemy” missile defenses for use in Russian ballistic missiles. “The goal of the launch was to test advanced ballistic missile warheads.” According to the ministry, data on the Topol launch will be used to develop advanced anti-missile defense penetration aids.
