Key Charge Against Cardinal Pell Withdrawn
On March 2, the Australian prosecutor Mark Gibson finally withdrew an
(obviously bogus) abuse charge against Cardinal George Pell stemming
from a person who died in January. In the meantime it has become known that in 2012 the detractor denied having being abused by Pell.
It is unclear at this point how many charges against Pell remain.
On Monday begins a four-week long preliminary hearing in Melbourne in the presence of the cardinal. Only then it will be decided whether prosecutors have enough evidence to bring the case to trial.
