Signs of the Times: Satanic Temple Wants Followers to Force Christian Bakers to Make a Cake to ‘Honor Satan’
The Massachusetts-based Satanic Temple, out of its
dissatisfaction with Christian-owned bakeries that decline to make cakes
celebrating same-sex “weddings,” is now asking its followers to force
bakers to make a cake for Satan. The group says that it came up with the
idea in light of the Masterpiece Cakeshop case soon to be considered by the U.S. Supreme Court.
“[B]ecause sexual orientation is not a protected class under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, (whereas race and religion are), there is a good chance that the right to discriminate against gay couples will be affirmed as a constitutional liberty,” it wrote.Out of the Satanic Temple’s fears that the court will likely rule in favor of the cakeshop, it has asked that those “who feel alienated or oppressed by the privileged status that religion holds over sexual orientation” contact religious bakers and order a cake to “honor Satan.”It asserts that the bakeries will not be able to say no since religion is considered a federally-protected class. Elitist Starts Religion To Worship Artificial Intelligence As God
Documents uncovered as part of a separate court case reveal
that multi-millionaire Silicon Valley elitist Anthony Levandowski
started a religion based around the concept of worshipping artificial
intelligence as a God. Levandowski, who is currently embroiled in a
high-profile lawsuit with Google over accusations he stole sensitive
data about their self-driving car program and gave it to Uber, founded a
religious organization called Way of the Future two years ago. The goal
of the religion is to “develop and
promote the realization of a Godhead based on Artificial Intelligence,” in line with the species reaching the singularity, the point at which computers surpass humanity in intelligence. Although the group has not responded to requests from the IRS for the forms it must submit annually to operate as a non-profit religious corporation, “Documents filed with California show that Levandowski is Way of the Future’s CEO and President, and that it aims “through understanding and worship of the Godhead, [to] contribute to the betterment of society,” reports Wired Magazine. Florida City Asks Court to Reject Atheists’ Demands to Tear Down Cross at State Park
A Florida city is appealing a decision that forces it to
remove a 75-year-old cross display from a public park due to an atheist
group’s complaint and threat of a potential lawsuit. The city of
Pensacola filed an appeal in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals on
Tuesday with the hopes of reversing a lower court decision from June
ruling that they must remove the cross from Bayview Park. “Pensacola has
an obvious secular purpose for allowing the cross to remain: to
preserve the city’s history and culture.
Plaintiffs have not identified any evidence that this purpose is a sham,” read the appeal for the case known as Kondrat’yev, et al v. City of Pensacola. “This court should vacate and remand, with instructions to dismiss the case for lack of jurisdiction. Alternatively, if the court reaches the merits, the decision of the district court should be reversed and the case remanded for entry of summary judgment in favor of the city.” The appeal also argued that the plaintiffs bringing the lawsuit “lack standing to sue” the city over the cross display for various reasons. Most Millennials aren’t married, May never Marry and not interested in having kids
Over a quarter of millennials have never gotten married or
had children, and if demographic trends continue many will never marry
or start families, according to a new study. Wendy Wang, director of
research at the Institute for Family Studies,
observed in a blog published Wednesday that marriage and parenthood
have throughout the ages been significant markers of adulthood. But all
that has now changed. “At ages 30 to 34, more than a quarter of
millennials (26 percent) have not yet started a family
— meaning they have neither been married nor had any children,” Wang said, referencing her organization’s latest analysis of government data. “Another 18 percent of millennials have children but have never been married. Only a narrow majority — 56 percent — have been married before. And most of these ever-married young adults (78 percent) have children.” This delay in “settling down” is a notable shift from prior generations. By the time Baby Boomers were the age of these millennials, only 13 percent had not formed a family. READ MORE
