Fr. Voigt- Trinity Sunday Sermon Reflection

Fr. Voigt- Trinity Sunday Sermon Reflection

Bonum est sui diffusivum.  Goodness by nature diffuses itself.  The Blessed Trinity is Goodness through and through and consequently will follow the philosophical principle we quoted.  God seeks to diffuse Himself.  The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost in the depths of the Godhead must be fruitful.  "Be fruitful and multiply" was the first command given by God to all His creatures.  He never said "Be sterile and abort."  The Goodness of God cannot help but love the creation which comes from His hands.  Man is loved by God and it is God who makes man lovable.

Each Person in the Blessed Trinity expresses the Divine Love in a unique manner which once understood allows the soul to evaluate its progress toward the unitive life.  This unique and Catholic God educates us, His children, by means of His Word and His Work.  It is the deceit of the evil one that seeks to turn man from his destiny to a fatal destruction.  Evil has no substance and bears with no good.  Evil is simply the "absence" of Good.  Lucifer separates himself from the holy Trinity and loses his dignity as the highest of God's creations and a humble human maiden takes his place and becomes the "highest honor of our race".
Goodness triumphs in the more wonderful way in the loving heart of the Immaculate Virgin.

Outside of time God the Father preferred our souls to a multitude of other possibles.  This love of preference marks us as special in the heart of God.  It will be this preferential love which issues forth into the selection of love which situates you and I in this moment of human history.  What a wonder of Divine Love that we should be trusted to weather these turbulent days.  Goodness continues to diffuse Its Love toward us despite the sins which we commit against His Eternal Will.  He wishes total freedom for His children which is based on the truth of His Love.  When we wound Him by our sins we are our own worst enemies.  We enslave ourselves while we think that we are practicing freedom.  What a coincidence of opposites we are.

Through the wounding of the divine nature, the heart of the Father calls out for a Redeemer and His Son responds with the request:  "Father, send me."  In this very moment Satan is fooled by the humility of the virgin Mary who offers her "fiat" to the Father as His dear maiden.  She is overshadowed by the Holy Ghost who implants the Word made Flesh in her womb.  Thus the Love of the Son is set free to exemplify for each of us the manner in which we will save our fallen souls.  First, through the humility of the incarnation our Lord teaches us the we must not come to lord it over others but rather to submit ourselves to their eternal needs.  Yet, the Lord does not finish His Love simply by incarnation.  He drives on to give us the antidote to sin, the ransom necessary to rebond us to the Father's heart.  He was crucified; He shed His Precious Blood; He gives priest the power to continue the forgiveness of sins till the end of time.   Finally, Our Lord prepares the meal of eternal life offering us in His Humility His Body and His Blood.  What a treasure we possess in these earthen pots of ours.

Last week Christ gave birth to the Mystical Body through the descent of the Holy Ghost upon our Lady and the apostles.  They were inspired by the Holy Ghost to recognize sin as the plague of mankind.  The Holy Ghost teaches us to recognize the evil of sin and to confess our sins.  From the Confession of our sins the Love of God heals the wounded heart and teaches that heart to forgive others the offenses they commit in our regard.  The Holy Ghost goes beyond that:  He inspires in our souls the knowledge and desire to pray for those who will murder us.  This last act of the Holy Ghost's inspiration will be proven in the year to come as we enter into the destruction of the Mystical Body exteriorly.  The rise of the apostate order will bring with it many persecutors who will seek to wipe out any trace of the Lord of all creation and redemption.  Brace yourselves by meditating upon the Goodness that is God.

In the end He will not leave us orphans.  He will take us by the hand and guide us to the Marian location which He has chosen for our good from all eternity.  We will be amazed by the power that is in Christ Jesus.  This power of love is so infinitely more powerful than the hatred that will encompass the world around us.  Like the Russian religious family that seeks to take upon itself the horrors of the satanic regime in order to increase love by the acceptance of pain.  They step in for their brothers who would have cursed their persecutors and they bless those who beat and kill them.  What great saints our age is producing in the hidden prisons of the world of the demonic.  Innocent sufferers will conquer the emaciated evil that cannot fill itself but wallows in its own misery.  Love is stronger than death.  God is Good and that goodness will diffuse itself and conquer the useless evil of pride.

God is the same then, yesterday, today and forever.  He is Goodness and cannot help but conquering evil in and through the plan He composed.  "Consecrate Russian to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on a single day with each Bishop in their Cathedral."  The consequence will be a peace as no man has ever experienced.
How we long for that day and that era of the Blessed Mother.  Come, Lord Jesus, come.

In the hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph,

Fr. Richard Voigt
