Fr. Kramer: Cardinal Ottaviani's Paraphrase of the 3rd Secret of Fatima

Fr. Kramer: Cardinal Ottaviani's Paraphrase of the 3rd Secret of Fatima

Here is Cardinal Ottaviani's paraphrase of the Secret, which he read when John XXIII read it:
"No longer does order reign anywhere and Satan will reign over the highest places directing the course of events. He (Satan) really will succeed in infiltrating to the top of the Church.

Also for the Church a time of Her greatest trials will come. Cardinals will oppose Cardinals; Bishops will op- pose Bishops and Satan will march amid their ranks, and in Rome there will be changes. What is rotten will fall, and what will fall will never rise again.
The Church will be darkened and the world deranged by terror."

The key phrase says Satan "will succeed in infiltrating to the top of the Church." Cardinal Mario Luigi Ciappi said the Secret reveals that "the great apostasy in the Church will begin at the top. Cardinal Silvio Oddi said the same thing. Malachi Martin and other sources spoke of a "pope entirely under the power of the devil". Our Lady spoke of several popes in the Secret. When Sr. Lucy was ordered under obedience to write it down, she could not bring herself to write it until Our Lady appeared to her, because the content is so horrifying.

For those who vaquely argue a vast apostasy within the Church especially the top is not possible.  Fr. Kramer reminds this is found in Scripture, Tradition and reinforced by various Marian approved apparitions:

"Have you forgotten that it was Christ Himself who warned in the Gospel of the great "abomination of desolation of which Daniel speaks"? Do you not remember that He said the deception would be so great that even "the elect would be deceived" -- "if that were possible". It will APPEAR as though the gates of hell will have prevailed. That is foretold in scripture; is the unanimous teaching of the ancient Fathers (as Cardinal Manning points out); is foretold by many saints; and is explicitly foretold by Pope Leo XIII. So how can you possibly think my words need to be "reconciled" with the words of Christ, when in fact, my words are in conformity with the words of Christ, the teaching of the Church and the ancient Fathers? Is it not rather your fundamentalistically oversimplified understanding of Christ's words that needs to be reconciled with the teaching of Christ and his Church?"
