The True Prophet and the False

The True Prophet and the False

 Fr. Campbell

How can we not love our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? St. Luke tells us that Jesus “was journeying through towns and villages, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God” (Lk.8:1). And “a very great crowd was gathering together and men from every town were resorting to him” (Lk.8:4).

It was not only the men who took an active role here, as St. Luke makes clear:

“And with him were the twelve, and certain women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, who is called the Magdalene, from whom seven devils had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others, who used to provide for them out of their means” (Lk.8:1b-3).

Who in his right mind would not love this great and compassionate Savior who went about among the people doing good? And yet He was hated by most of those who held power and authority in His day, just as He is today, along with the true Catholic Church which He founded. The Gospel is not being preached. Many Protestants, especially in this country, have been misled by the preachers of Christian Zionism. And the Novus Ordo “church” no longer preaches the Gospel for the salvation of the nations, but instead “dialogues” with those of other religions, leaving them in the ignorance and darkness of unbelief.

The “Dialogue” goes on! In a recent dialogue with the Muslims at the Vatican, as reported by a website called the National Report (http://nationalreport.net/), Francis is said to have reassured the Muslims about the Church’s attitude towards the Koran. Why the Koran is just as good as the Bible any day. Francis once kissed the Koran. It’s the same God, whatever name you use for Him – Jehovah, Allah, Jesus, the Great Spirit, or whatever. Why insult those poor people of other religions by suggesting that our religion is superior to theirs? If they’re comfortable where they are, they should stay there. Any little ol’ religion will do.

For that matter, Francis loves the Jewish Talmud too. While a Cardinal in Argentina, he co-authored a book, On Heaven and Earth (Image Books, New York, 2013), with his good friend, Rabbi Abraham Skorka, in which Francis quotes the Jewish Talmud. So the Talmud portrays Jesus Christ as a vile sinner condemned to Hell for all eternity, and the Holy Mother of God, Mary, as a woman of loose morals! That didn’t seem to be a problem for Bergoglio.

This is beyond outrage! By taking part in such “dialogues”, Francis attacks the very Divinity of Jesus Christ, and His absolute uniqueness! Jesus Christ alone is God’s Divine Son, existing from all eternity with God the Father, in the unity of the Holy Ghost. St. John warns:

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone forth into the world. By this is the spirit of God known: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, is of God. And every spirit that severs Jesus, is not of God, but is of Antichrist, of whom you have heard that he is coming, and now is already in the world” (1Jn.4:1-3).

Francis says that we have wars because we don’t respect one another’s religions. If we did, the fighting would come to an end. That’s the message of the False Prophet. That’s the message of the United Nations. But there will be peace only when the Gospel of Peace of Jesus Christ is preached and accepted.

We are called to bring the Gospel of Peace to the nations. Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace. We don’t create peace, He does! He gives peace to all those who believe in His Name and seek to be baptized. He said to His Apostles:

“These things I have spoken to you that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have affliction. But take courage, I have overcome the world” (Jn.16:33).

It’s a huge lie, what they call a “whopper”, that if we have respect for one another’s religions there will be peace. That is not what preaching the Gospel is about. St. Paul quotes Isaiah: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace; of those who bring glad tidings of good things!” (Rom.10:15).

Those who hate Jesus Christ hate His Church, which is His Body, and they hate us, because we belong to the Body. Jesus is our Divine Savior and Lord. Those who see Him as a betrayer and an enemy are our enemies. And yet we must not hate them. God “wishes all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1Tim.2:4). We must wish the same. St. Paul tells Timothy to preach the Gospel “in season, out of season; reprove, entreat, rebuke with all patience and teaching” (2Tim.4:2).

But how can we not rush to Our Lord’s defense when He is attacked and betrayed? When His message is despised? When He is blasphemed and slandered? When He is insulted, reviled? Will Jesus not accuse us on the Day of Judgment? Will He not say to us:

“How could you let them blaspheme my Holy Name? How could you let them insult me? How could you let them crucify me and not cry out?”

St. John tells us:

“I have not written to you as to those who do not know the truth, but as to those who know it, and because no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is the Antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. No one who disowns the Son has the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also. As for you, let that which you have heard from the beginning abide in you” (1Jn.2:21-24a).
