Christmas is Forever

Christmas is Forever

Special Message from Father Voigt (The Resistance)

What a gift our Lord gives to the priests on the day of His Birth!  The privilege to offer the holy sacrifice of the mass three times.  Midnight, morning and at noon the priest will incarnate the child Jesus upon the altar He is destined to climb to bring each of us the unfathomable depths of the Love of God for us.  It cannot be valued with any coin that crosses the hands of men.  It can only be valued from the vision of Faith He begot in us.  Can any of us plumb the depths of the mystery?

One only could realize the providence and power of God and she gave God's Word Flesh.  Through the perception that only Purity can possess she stepped onto the stage of history to bring the fulfillment of  prophecy to a waiting and worried world.  She was humility incarnate and in that great virtue she conceived while remaining a virgin.  God honored this treasure of humanity by the gift of Joseph.

Thus God gave Mary a protector.  In Joseph the divine mystery was revealed and he was chosen in his purity to guard that secret (a virgin shall bear a child and call Him Emmanuel for God is with us).  He confirms the fact that the Holy Spirit overshadowed our Lady and hence the conception of the Word.  He confronts the Jewish mind that would have stoned our Lady as an adulterer if it thought that she conceived without an husband.  But greatest of all is that He protected her from the devil who knew and sought the virgin.

Wrapped up in all this divine machination is the person of John the Baptist, whose purity cried out to the impure to make straight the way of the Lord.  He possessed an humility that was proverbial.  He shouted that he was not worthy to unleash the strap of our Lord's sandal let alone proclaim him.  Purity and humility cooperate in a magnificent manner to bring us the salvation of our souls.  It will be innocence and humility that mark the life of the Word Made Flesh.  It will be innocence and humility that will mark our response to the Savior of our souls.

If our world continues to amass pride and lust it will be unable to grasp even the simplest of truths related to His Divine Son.  The darkened eye of the "world-ling" sees only possessions, pleasure and power.  This is the "heaven" they desire and God will grant them their wish but it is a wish that will leave them eternally unhappy existing in the hell of their own making.  The day of Christmas is everyday and the effects of Christmas last forever and now the choice you and I have is to make Christmas eternal in our hearts.  Purity and humility are the affirmative answers to the question:  Will you accept the mystery of the Christ Child now and forever?

In the hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph,

Fr. Richard Voigt

A Merry Christmas to you all and to all a Holy New Year.
