Fr. Voigt: Reflection on Chastisement‏

 Fr. Voigt: Reflection on Chastisement‏

Do we recognize the dangers facing our world now?  In the Ukraine the Madonnas are weeping, the people know not what to do.  In Iraq children of Christian mothers and fathers are being taken and beheaded.  Life has become worthless and the devil we spoke of in last Sunday's sermon is pulling off the mask of civility and now seeking to slaughter the Mystical Body of Christ.  Christ weeps for His own but they did not recognize the moment of His Visitation.  As the Jews of Jerusalem failed to recognize the Messiah in Jesus Christ so now the Christians have turned from His warnings and disaster is upon us.

Jesus wept over Jerusalem because they failed to recognize the time of their visitation.  If they had recognized the Messiah a great peace would have touched the entire nation but they chose to followthe false words of Priests who sought only the goods of this world.  Secularity destroys the sense of the Sacred.  Worldliness demands all our attention while Eternity merely reaches out to those who realize the presence of the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity.  Now the plague of worldliness has reached epic proportions so that the slaughter of innocence is just another news item for today.  Tomorrow everything will return to normal, will it?

After the weeping came the prophecy of total destruction.  Jerusalem would be torn to the very foundation stone upon which the city was built.  Mothers would watch children starve.  Father would even eat their own sons.It was a terrible end for a city that would not heed the warning of the Son of God.  Vespacian and Titus would lay siege upon the city and finally tear everything down.  Later the city would be rebuilt upon the very spot where the city had crucified the very One Who could have given them peace.  God had sent His only begotten Son to set us free from the wickedness of Lucifer and we failed to recognize His Visitation.
In 1917 God sent his Beloved Mother to warn us of the final battle with evil.  As the priests of Jerusalem did not take Jesus seriously when He cleansed the temple so too the very Popes did not take seriously the words of warning of our Lady.  We have the Peace Plan of Heaven that can conquer the demonic assault onthe life God gave to each of us.  Ultimately it is the priesthood that must step up and speak up.  We must call upon this pope to do his duty before God and call every bishop to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on a given day and at a specific hour.  This is to show the world that the all powerful God can do whatever we think is impossible through His love of His Mother.

Cleanse the temple of your soul.  Examine your conscience and answer one simple question.  Have you prayed the rosary daily and well for the conversion of Russia.  Have you taken the words of our Lady seriously.  What will it take to wake up the Christian family?  Do we need to see our childrens' heads on polesoutside our city walls?  What will it take to wake up our modern priests who prefer a game of golf to another visit in the chapel.  Time is short and we must resolve to become the saints needed for our generation or else!

In the hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph,

Fr. Richard Voigt
