God wants all men to be saved, Holy Scripture tells us (1Tim.2:4). And we must all be of the same mind. Therefore we must bring the good news of the Gospel to everyone, “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for there is the same Lord of all, rich towards all who call upon him. ‘For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved’” (Rom.10:12,13).


However, God chose the Jews to play a special role in the history of Salvation, and for this we owe them a great debt. Our Lord Himself said to the woman at the well in Samaria, “You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews” (Jn.4:22). 

But because the Jews rejected their Messiah when He appeared, they forfeited their inheritance. Jesus was not slow to condemn those who refused to believe in Him. When He spoke the following words to the chief priests and Pharisees, they knew they were being warned:

“Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected, has become the corner stone; by the Lord this has been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes’? Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and will be given to a people yielding its fruits. And he who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; but upon whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder” (Mt.21:42-45).

Most of the Jews would cling to the established Jewish religion of the Scribes and the Pharisees. But when the veil of the Temple was torn in two at the death of Our Lord upon the Cross, that religion would be no more. This is not to say that the Old Covenant would come to an end, but it would have validity only in Jesus Christ, to whom it referred from the beginning. Jesus said to two of the disciples on the road to Emmaus after His Resurrection:

“‘O foolish ones and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Christ have to suffer these things before entering into his glory?’ And beginning then with Moses and with all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things referring to himself” (Lk.24:25-27).   

Today’s Judaism is a new religion, the religion of the Talmud. The Talmud, a collection of the teachings of the Rabbis, was compiled in the early centuries of the Christian era, and has become the central text of Rabbinic Judaism, although the books of the Law and the Prophets are still retained. Modern Judaism is Talmudic Judaism. The Church, while always praying for the salvation of the Jews, has constantly been on guard against the influence of the Talmudic Religion. That is, until Vatican II.

The Vatican II attitude towards the Jews came about when John XXIII, through Cardinal Bea, sent Fr. Yves Congar, O.P., to take part in a secret meeting with Jewish representatives to find out what they wanted of the Catholic Church. The result was the Vatican II document Nostra Aetate. The document asks us to believe that the Sinai Covenant can still stand on its own as a valid covenant. It asks us to accept Talmudic Judaism as a genuine religion. It absolves the Jews of all guilt regarding the crucifixion and death of Christ, and the Church must now apologize for its mistreatment of the Jews. The Church is judged the guilty party, and must constantly lament its “antisemitism”.

The French writer, Jean Madiran described what happened in the wake of Vatican II:

“Homilies and catechisms changed in a few short years. In France… the clergy readily adopted the conciliar decisions. This attitude found powerful backing in the ‘Pastoral Orientations’ of the episcopal committee for relations with Judaism… ” (Jean Madiran, Rome’s Secret Accord with the Jewish Leaders, 1990, reprinted in CFN, Feb., 2015).

Yes, we have seen homilies and catechisms change in a few short years. Evidently, the whole Novus Ordo religion is under new management. Should we be surprised that Paul VI and John Paul II were Jews, and perhaps Benedict XVI? Since Vatican II the papal pretenders are frequently visited at the Vatican by the Jewish Masonic organization, B’nai B’rith. Jewish power and influence there has never been greater. Consider the following comments:

“In a traditionally Catholic country like Argentina, Jews have managed to influence and co-opt the Catholic hierarchy of the Church by promoting a strategy of blasphemous ecumenical encounters under the auspices of Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, now Pope (sic) Francis, when he was Archbishop of Buenos Aires and President of the Argentine Conference of Catholic Bishops, a policy which he continues now in Rome” (J. Thomas Brennan, www.culturewars.com).

And we have this incredible statement of John Paul II at a synagogue in Rome:

“The Jewish religion is not ‘extrinsic’ to us but in a certain way is ‘intrinsic’ to our own religion. With Judaism therefore we have a relationship which we do not have with any other religion. You are dearly beloved brothers and, in a certain way, it could be said that you are our elder brothers” (Address of John Paul II in Roman Synagogue, April 13, 1986).

We must hate no one. Our Lord commanded us, “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who persecute and calumniate you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven…” (Mt.5:44,45a). But we must not call those who blaspheme Our Lord’s Divinity and deny Him as the Messiah, “our dearly beloved brothers.” Jesus Christ, the stone rejected by the builders, is our dearly beloved Brother in Heaven. In the words of our first Holy Father, St. Peter, addressing the rulers of the Jews:

“This is ‘The stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the corner stone.’ Neither is there salvation in any other. For there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:11,12).
