Boston Church Desecrated, Virgin Mary Statue Beheaded

Boston Church Desecrated, Virgin Mary Statue Beheaded

Police say incident not linked to separate attack

A church in Boston is reeling after three religious statues were desecrated by vandals.

A statue of the Virgin Mary had its head knocked off while hands were removed from other statues at a Catholic church in Burlington.
“The initial feeling was things have been violated in many ways, certainly from a religious and spiritual perspective,” Father Frank Silva of Saint Margaret’s Church told CBS Boston.
Silva noted that the desecration occurred right after Easter, remarking, “To have something like this happen hits you right in the gut”.

Parishioners are also upset, with Rick Abreu commenting, “It’s sad, disgraceful, disrespectful people who have no faith or no morals to do something like that”.
Police don’t have much evidence to go on, but they don’t see a connection to a Virgin Mary statue that was vandalized in Norwood parish just days previously.

Although the culprits are still unknown, desecrating Christian churches is a favorite past time of Islamic radicals.
Towns taken over by ISIS in the Middle East routinely see their Christian churches ransacked. Religious headstones and art found at museums and cemeteries have also been destroyed.

Back in 2013 we reported on an alleged massacre that took place in the village of al-Duvair in Syria’s Western province of Homs during which churches were ravaged by Obama-backed “moderate” rebels.
