Quinquagesima Reflection

Quinquagesima Reflection
By: Fr. Voigt (Resistance)
Mystery vs. Materiality

How can God suffer?  This mystery caused heretics to claim that Jesus was not God but
rather an extremely special man.  Only man can suffer not God.  Consequently, God's word
tells us that after Jesus, who was proclaimed by Simon Peter as the Christ, spoke clearly to the twelve that He was going to Jerusalem where He would be mocked, scourged, spat upon and killed.  Not one of them understood the words He spoke to them.  Scripture repeats this lack of understanding three times.

Our dear apostles were focused on the materiality of the situation and not the mystery of Divine suffering.  In their minds God cannot die and how could He Who worked such miracles suffer?
The material order obscures the divine mysteries for all of us.  When we take and concern ourselveswith the worldly situation in which chaos and confusion reign, then we miss the mystery of the moment.
In all His suffering He is in charge of the situation.  No one will take His Life from Him;  He lays it down as the Good Shepherd.

For this reason His next miracle takes the material order of blindness representing the intellectual blindness of the apostles and He restores the sight to the man.  Each word is significant in the story.
The blind man cries out "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"  He does not say:  "Jesus of Nazareth, have mercy".  No he uses the divine title.  Jesus, as God, stands.  In His human nature, Jesus was passing by.  It is the divine nature that heals the blind man of a material disorder.  It is the divine nature that speaks to us in our suffering.

Today the demonic is seeking to blind us to the presence of the mystery of God.  Everything is sapped of the sacred and the science of today blinds us to the Providence of God.  We are a confused Catholic population hearing a Pope that utters modernist mush.  Serious Catholics are now turning to the faith as never before and begging for the light of Christ to guide them to the kingdom.  Lent beckons us to restore the mystery of the sacred through our fasting, our more intense prayer life and our sacrificial alms-giving.  We have to get serious about the eternal because the secular world is dead serious about
killing Christ in His Mystical Body.

Now the Gospel calls us to understand that Jesus, the Son of Man, had to shed His Blood.  Only His innocent and pure Blood could attain the forgiveness of our sins.  Suffering for the divine nature is impossible therefore He took upon Himself the human nature offered by the ever Virgin Mary.  This hypostatic union of the human and the divine nature allowed the divine Person of Christ to fulfill our every desire.  He died that you and I might open our eyes to the Mystery of Divine Life hidden within our baptized souls.  Praise God for His
marvelous  plan.  Praise Him for His incomprehensible love.  Thank Him for the Lent which comes to us with the opportunity to do penance for the sins of our world.

Pray for the power to understand the mystery and to conquer the materialistic order that surrounds us with the science that bl inds us to the Author of it all.  God bless you with a truly penitential Lent.  Believe mewe need all the divine power available to us for the battle ahead of us with the Devil himself.

In the hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph,

Fr. Richard Voigt
