POEM: Narrow is the Road
By:
Eric Gajewski
Matthew 7:14 How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that
leadeth to life: and few there are that find it!

The road is narrow. He who
wishes to travel it more easily must cast off all things and use the
cross as his cane. In other words, he must be truly resolved to suffer
willingly for the love of God in all things.

Be simple, Be empty
Ready art the hearts, so few
That you might not no longer “look”
But with inner eyes opened see
For amongst the modern men of self
Who wouldst dare to embrace brother
poverty?
And Wisdom replieth,
“It is the man who follows the
Gospel carefully”
For His eyes as an eagle searcheth
for the needle’s own
And the truth in his speech is heard
clearly
For Narrow is Love’s Road
And Wide is Hell’s Abode (Mt 7:13)
Which rejects His Sacred Heart’s
Endless Mercy
To you who have an End
Hidden is my friend, this inward
ascending Ladder
And as with each step a deeper Fire
absorbs
And the devils only get madder
For a Path shall be there (Is. 35:8)
An inward peaceful blue sky
For this unseen air hast been
prepared
For those that truly love Him
O’ Exclusive is this Door (Lk
13:23-25) to the Fortress
Which is opened only by prayer
Where within can be heard on high an
angelic chorus
Where within along these dogmatic
Walls
Are found the Saints portraits
I enter therein,
Where Our Lady takes thee by the
hand
Who is seen in gentleness
Which is written uponst her face so
gorgeous
For Narrow is Love’s Road
Which is soflty laced with the
falling snow
For Purity points out to the
hopeless which way to go
So few who follow her on Calvary’s
long “lost” path
Which can only take a soul Home
And who can call this road their
own?
Wisdom replieth “Only those, who, do
not, of this world, know…
Nay, only those humble and low…”
For this Way “hugs” tightly against
Love’s Mountain
It is seen on the Face of Our
Beloved
For few are they who find this
inward Fountain
Which stream from His Sacred Heart
as Living Water
Yea, have ye courage and be ye brave
Let Faith and Hope guide
Fear not the night and embrace the
day
For the soul’s journey is long and
harsh
And those who abandon the Way
Fall off into the Abyss
below
For Straight is the Way and Narrow
is this Road
Take ye nothing with you but thy
heart
For on this path “to acquire is to
lose” and “to lose is to gain”
Trust not thyself; lean not upon thy
own understanding
For the stiff-necked end in self's hell, unable to pay that which is owed
Whilst the Elect End in the Presence
of Him standing
For Narrow is Love’s Road….
Isaiah 35:8 And a path and a way shall be there, and it shall be
called the holy way: the unclean shall not pass over it, and this shall be unto
you a straight way, so that fools shall not err therein.
If God gives you an abundant
harvest of trials, it is a sign of great holiness which He desires you
to attain. Do you want to become a great saint? Ask God to send you
many sufferings. The flame of Divine Love never rises higher than when
fed with the wood of the Cross, which the infinite charity of the
Savior used to finish His sacrifice. All the pleasures of the world are
nothing compared with the sweetness found in the gall and vinegar
offered to Jesus Christ. That is, hard and painful things endured for
Jesus Christ and with Jesus Christ.
