St. Pius V Demands Rigorous Punishment of Homosexual Clergy
With homosexuality entering center stage in the discussions of the Synod
presently going on at the Vatican, we bring to our readers some
thoughts of St. Pius V on this matter in his Constitution Cum primum of April 1, 1566.
In this Constitution the Inquisitor St. Pius V calls the vice against
nature one of the offenses that are most repugnant to God and raise His
wrath. He warns judges against negligence in punishing these crimes and
solemnly established that clerics should be given over to the secular
arm for the punishment of death.
Pope St. Pius V
“Having determined to do away with everything that may in some way
offend the Divine Majesty, we resolve to punish, above all and without
indulgence, those things which, by the authority of the Sacred
Scriptures or by most grievous examples, are more repugnant to God than
any others and raise His wrath: that is, negligence in divine worship,
ruinous simony, the crime of blasphemy, and the execrable libidinous
vice against nature. For such faults peoples and nations are scourged by
God Who, according to His just condemnation, sends catastrophes, wars,
famine, and pestilence ...
“Let the judges know that if, even after this our Constitution,
they are negligent in punishing these crimes, they will not only be
guilty of them in the divine judgment but also will incur our
indignation ...
If someone commits that nefarious crime against nature that caused
divine wrath to be unleashed against the children of iniquity, he will
be given over to the secular arm for punishment [of death]; and if he is
a cleric, he will be subject to the same punishment after having been
stripped of all his degrees [of ecclesiastical dignity].”

ReplyDeleteOh if those inside the Vatican including Francis saw this post now, what would they do? Probably dismiss it as archaic nonsense.
ReplyDeleteyes we (catholics) are old news...
DeleteIt looks extreme. Only God can judge, because only Him can know the soul know what is the cause of the sin. The Church is right not accepting gay marriage but not to sentence them
ReplyDeleteAurora, you're right in that only God can judge the soul. However, this has nothing to do with judging the soul. It has to do with judging the action which is most vile in the eyes of God. Consider how God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (and several other cities) for homosexual sin. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary that ecclesiastical and civil authorities do in like manner so justice is served, disaster(s) averted, and, ultimately, God is adored.
