The president of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity told a conference at the Catholic University of America that Catholic Church leaders bear part of the blame for the Reformation.

Speaking at a symposium marking the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, Cardinal Kurt Koch said that if Catholic bishops had responded to Martin Luther’s calls for reform, Luther’s movement might not have split the Church.

Cardinal Koch argued that in his early campaign for reform, Luther made reasonable calls for reform. Only later did Luther attack the fundamental structure and authority of the Church. In that sense, the cardinal said, it is inaccurate to say that Luther’s posting of his famous theses marks the starting date of the Reformation. At that point, Cardinal Koch said, reforms may have kept the Church intact. So he concluded: “For the fact that the original reform of the Church became a Church-dividing reformation, the Catholic Church of the time must bear its share of the blame.”

Müller claimed that the program in the seminaries is already "tight", and that not all seminarians have solid foundations in their Christian faith and prayer life. Therefore, from a pragmatic point of view, one must be happy, if they can handle the regular curriculum - which, in contrast to the Old Rite, often does not promote neither Christian faith nor prayer life.

This monthlong swarm of earthquakes has been ongoing since 13 February and consists of three major pulses of activity, with about 20 days between them about 10 km west of Turangi, New Zealand. To date, there have been 2339 earthquakes located, 587 since Friday 25 May. Currently, there are no indications that the earthquakes are related to volcanic activity, being located well away from the active volcanoes. But of course, nothing is more unsure! In this new activity phase, there
have been 11 earthquakes over M3, however, none are over M3.5. The events are occurring between about 4 and 12 km depth and most are in the 5-9 km depth range. The Taupo Volcanic Zone is a rifting area, growing wider each year by 6-9 mm.

The Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, the First Reich, was the central political entity of the western world for a great many centuries and, as we have talked about before, has been in the mind of many people, most often Catholics, in particular in terms of comparing and contrasting it with the European Union. As I have stated before, the EU is nothing at all even close to what the First Reich had been, however, for those who claim that the European Union should be embraced as a modern-day version of the Holy Roman Empire, my response is simple; why not just restore the Holy Roman Empire itself? Such a thing is hardly likely in this day and age and yet, it is no more unlikely than the restoration of any other monarchy which I will not relent in pressing for. Additionally, it is not as though it would be fundamentally impossible to restore the First Reich in terms of the modern European political map as the First Reich was itself a rather malleable thing, which is probably why it was able to endure for so long.

Canon 188 States that:

"A resignation made out of grave fear that is inflicted unjustly or out of malice, substantial error, or simony is invalid by the law itself."

At his inauguration, Pope Benedict XVI said, "Pray for me, that I may not flee for fear of the wolves."

Obviously the Holy Father said this for a reason. If he was motivated by such fear to resign, the resignation would be invalid by the law itself. (which he clearly was)

Progress, however, in this direction must, of necessity, lead to a purity of heart in a much wider sphere. The self-conquest needful for the acquisition of the virtue of holy purity induces a habit of mind which regards the whole of life in the light of God's law. It was a holy virgin from whom the Word took flesh and thus came and dwelt among us. Virginity, then, is the symbol of highest chastity. The reality symbolized is cleanliness of mind. "O how beautiful is the chaste generation with glory." The virtue and its reward is the right of the whole generation, young men and maidens, old men and children, the married, the widows and the single. Virginity of mind from this moment henceforth, that is the purity of heart which is the condition of the vision of God.

If there is an age whose sole hope lies in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, it is our own. The evils committed by mankind today can scarcely be exaggerated. One would think that actual parenthood would be part of Planned Parenthood’s mission. The abortion organization never mentions “mom,” “dad,” “father,” or “parent” ever in its latest Annual Report. They do mention “mother” one time, in a bizarre quote that sums up the political group’s warped perspective on motherhood: “I was resolved to seek out the root of evil, to do something to change the destiny of mothers, whose miseries were as vast as the sky.” These words are from Planned Parenthood’s eugenicist founder, Margaret Sanger, who considered motherhood to be bondage. Her book, Motherhood in Bondage, pretty much summed up her broken view of what makes all of us possible.

I just finished reading an article that has been popping up in my social media feed for some days now; Nostra Aetate and the Catholic Response to Islam, recently published by Crisis Magazine.

The punchline is already present in the title: According to the writer, the Council’s “Declaration on the Relation of the Church to Non-Christian Religions” is the Catholic response to Islam.
In reality, it is anything but.

The Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) was kicked out from a chapel of the University Hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland. For ten years the SSPX has held a prayer in reparation for abortion. Now, the director of the hospital decided that abortion must not be questioned within its walls.
