 Today's Gospel is explained by our Lord Himself a little further on in answer to a question of His disciples. He tells us that by the good seed in the parable are meant "the children of the kingdom"--i. e., good, faithful, practical Christians; that the wicked are the cockle appearing in the field of the Church.

In placing these words before us, brethren, the Church bids us mark the difference between the food of the body and that of the soul. Both are good; but one is good for this life alone, and the other is good for both this life and life everlasting.

IF YOU EVER FEAR that your will should fall before the lower appetite, or other enemies that attempt to overcome it; if you perceive that your courage and determination are failing, hold your ground------do not retreat from the field. You must regard the victory as your own as long as you are not completely overcome.

THERE ARE TWO THINGS necessary to make our self-oblation completely acceptable to God. One is that it be made in union with the offering made by Christ to the Father; and the other is that it be totally free from all attachment to creatures.

1. As regards the first, we must remember that the Son of God, during His sojourn on earth, offered to His heavenly Father, not only Himself and His works, but also us and our works. Thus must our oblation be made in union with His, and dependent upon His, that both may be sanctified in the sight of the Almighty.

We are seemingly on the verge of world war 3, a war, which, will kill far more than world war one and two together.  So many are spending too much time in overanalyzing the situation rather than concentrating on the unseen war which will ultimately determine our salvation.  Make no mistake, the devils are out and about, even more so, than a decade ago, which, is why, we need to pray the Rosary now more than ever.  Will world war 3 start as a result of the growing conflict in Syria?  Will it happen if Trump pre-empts an attack on North Korea?  Or what about the Ukraine area (which is where Fr. Martin said would start WW3)?  None of us know but we do know if we don’t watch over our souls we will end in hellfire.  Forget about fire raining down from the skies for this only pertains to the material world.  Our focus must be laser focus on the interior life and getting our souls ready for the Tribulation ahead.  Only Faith will survive the days ahead so make sure you are locked in perpetual prayer with God.

MAN HAS a twofold nature, the one superior, the other inferior. The first is generally termed reason, the second is called appetite, sensuality, or passion. Reason is the distinguishing property of man, and he is not considered responsible for the primary impulses of his appetite unless his superior faculty confirms the choice.

Brothers and sisters you were baptized and given weapons for the battle eternal that you must wage in this world for the salvation of your eternal souls.  One does not receive weapons to stand at ease and watch the world go by.  We are facing three enemies:  the flesh, the world and the devil.  These three seek to devour our spiritual souls just as they sought to disrupt the divine invasion of Jesus.  For after His Baptism in the Jordan He is led into the desert for battle.

THE FOURTH ARTIFICE which the devil employs on those who are advancing in the way of perfection is to fill them with ill-timed resolutions which in different circumstances would be quite commendable, but in the existing condition only engender vicious habits.
