Thanksgiving Reflection: Love Is Not Satisfied With Sharing

HAVE A BLESSED THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Some say Love is a sharing of the heart with another but this is inaccurate for this implies a “portion” still retained for its own by the owner himself.  No, true Love has no concern for itself and is a complete giving of the heart to another.  Nay, in the process of moving away from self- love we are met with challenges but we must move from “sharing” to total surrender and abandonment to His good pleasure.  Therefore, once we recognize that we are already in the Heart of the Beloved, then, only then, can we fully live in it.  For I cannot be that which my heart does not desire to attain.  That which we seek to attain has already been given to us freely.  No?  Perhaps, to some, His Words, never touched their hearts but assuredly this total act of self- giving on the Cross brings our own hearts into His mysteriously without ever hearing Him speak.  The silence upon the Cross, is, in my estimation, the greatest sermon every preached.  It is here I did not hear Words but rather His Heart thumping and pounding for my sins.  It pounded loudly against the eardrums of this sinner telling me to change my course.  It pounded and eventually broke down my erroring ways.  Therefore, how can I say I just want to share? Is this enough?

Death surrounds us and begins to crowd in upon us as we age and watch those who reared us die.  Then we find our own friends one by one dying and wonder comes upon us while we consider if we are next in line.  As one poet expressed it:

Our Lord walked the Via Dolorosa, the Way of Sorrows, on Good Friday as He carried that Cross that our sins had imposed so unjust upon Him. He willingly embraced His Cross so as to pay back in His Sacred Humanity the debt that was owed to Him in His Infinity as God, to re-open the Gates of Heaven that had been closed by Adam’s sin and to stretch out His arms on the horizontal beam of the Cross so as to embrace all men for all time to lift them up on the vertical beam to the Father in Heaven in Spirit and in Truth. Whether any one human being cooperates with the graces won for his immortal soul on the wood of the Holy Cross is up to the free will of that person. We do know, however, that God wants us to cooperate with the graces, made possible for us by the shedding of every single drop of His Most Precious Blood and that flow into our hearts and souls through the loving hands of Our Lady, the Mediatrix of All Graces, and to be conscious of the fact that our lives might very well be demanded of us this very night. Are we ready to make an accounting of our lives at the moment of our Particular Judgments?

It All Begins with a Word!

If you sow a word, you will reap a thought.

If you sow a thought, you will reap an act.

If you sow an act, you will reap an habit.

If you sow an habit, you will reap a character. 

The character which you or I reap is determined by the Word of Truth revealed to us through the Son of God Himself.  The Jews are shocked because our Lord directly tells them that if they do not listen to His Word then they are not of God.  The premise is clear:
if you are of God then you will listen to the words of God.  If you are not of God then you will not listen to the words of God.  How can anyone not understand?   Let us follow the dialogue of the Jews and our Lord.

Poor Jesus...having to witness all that He does in our godless modern world. It seems you can go nowhere these days without women being immodestly dressed and the men pursuing vainly desires all in attempt to seek approval from this world. I have said this repeatedly that if most died and went to hell (common opinion of esteemed theologians) during he heights of holy Christendom what prospects is there for a modern world saturated in self, the Novus ordo religion, Protestantism, promotion of sexuality and body, materialism, etc.

There is only one sure way of talking on hell--Our Lord's way. (Read from St. Luke 16:19--31, the parable of Dives and Lazarus). What contrasts in the story! A rich and refined man clothed first in purple, and then in hell--fire; feasting on the best, then, craving a drop of water; a repulsive street--beggar, lying on the pavements, scented by the ravaging dogs of the Orient, craving the leavings of the rich man's table, and then resting in the embrace of Abraham as a child in his father's lap. Baruch 4:28 For as it was your mind to go astray from God; so when you return again you shall seek him ten times as much.

It is never too late to convert!  I was recently emailed with the question, “Is it too late for me to convert?”  Brethren, it is never too late to turn your heart wholly unto God.  Take a look at the examples of some Saints who did not start the race of life so great.  These specific Saints such as Francis or Augustine, allow us to see, just how great Gods mercy.  It shows us very concretely that if we turn our hearts wholly unto God we can change and become new creatures in Christ.  Therefore, there are many potential Prodigal sons who keep from returning Home due to fear.  This fear is a result of self love but we have hope from the Scriptures themselves!  Yea, we can say the further we move from our Home the more “thirstier” we get and thus those who once have abandoned Christ and His Catholic Church have a great hope for what could be.

You will get no satisfaction from this world nor in any attempt to satisfy your carnal senses...

I take a look around to see so many unhappy people who are giving into despair.  We are quick to rush to their might be a medical problem and yet so many are simply not happy because they are full of self love.  They have still not learnt as eagles to detach from all things.  They enjoy distractions and comforts.  They despise silence, solitude and the Crosses given to them and they blame others for their own unhappiness to boot.  No, the problem isn’t Clinton nor this country in reality.  The problem still is you.  We spend to much time during the day trying to satisfy or own egos and senses that we lose the proper Catholic Christian perspective.  We are not here to lead a life full of fun.  We are here to satisfy the Divine Will and we will never do this if we are still full of the self.

Reflection: Do Not Think I Have Come To Send Peace!

The Sword of Truth divides us.  Either you are with Christ by holding His Catholic Faith and standing by His Catholic Church or you are not...

Let us face the reality that the majority who profess to be Catholic are confused.  On one hand they know they must be Catholic to save their soul and in the other hand they see their leaders praising and collaborating with the enemies of the Church and God.  The confusion is not really such (it goes much deeper) but it is more of an “internal or silent” shock that stays locked within.  There is an unwillingness to want to accept this Vatican II apostasy that we are dealing with.  Furthermore, the Lord cracked a whip in His Temple and now we have the Novus Ordites allowing other false religions and sects into the Temple to pray with them (which is condemned).  Our leaders do not drive out untruth… no they rather embrace it.  Yet Christ came and He was Truth.  The Truth of our Faith ultimately separates us as a sheep from these goats.  However, what happens when the enemy very carefully changes the Faith and calls it catholic?  What are Catholics to do then?

Impassibility, immortality and infused knowledge were robbed from each of us through the number one thief and murderer of all times, his lordship satan.  Satan had been the "light bearer" who should have passed on all the gifts that God gave him for the good of all both angels and man.  Instead he sought "equal worship" with the God Who created him and loved him.  Beaten by his deceits man lost such wonderful gifts that he is now"half dead" and in need of a Good Samaritan to bind up and heal is wounded nature.

St. Therese explains  prayer is an aspiration of the heart, it is a simple glance directed to heaven, it is a cry of gratitude and love in the midst of trial as well as joy; finally, it is something great, supernatural, which expands my soul and unites me to Jesus.  This simple yet profound explanation, is most vital, for modern man, to get reacquainted with, if, we are to become a Christian society once again.  Most often we complicate prayer because we allow the self to interfere with what God Wills for us.  Indeed, we have the free will to pray every day and yet so many do not pray at all or simply pray for the wrong things due to our strong human nature.  However, today I would like to focus on the 5P’s every Catholic should be praying for (who and what) daily and then 2P’s by which we can accomplish this.

On this Good Friday let us meditate upon this Passion which must become our passion if we any hopes of being saved.  In Love’s great irony we see that His death is our new life.  Therefore can each of us truly say “I am nailed to the Cross with Thee”?  In Lent we are supposed to learn wholly how to deny the self and now our hearts must journey as One with His Suffering Sacred Heart.  Yea, every day there is a cross to carry thus every day to a Christian in a certain sense must be made a Passion (in image of His).  We have no glory outside of the Cross of Christ and thus we too must take this example and apply it to the Church herself (in similarities).
