WE HAVE MOVED!

"And I beheld, and heard the voice of one eagle flying through the midst of heaven,
saying with a loud voice: Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth....

Hope of a Hopeless World

Hope of a Hopeless World
If there is an age whose sole hope lies in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, it is our own. The evils committed by mankind today can scarcely be exaggerated. To mention just a few, these include blasphemy, the destruction of the family through abortion, divorce, euthanasia, widespread pornography, immoral fashions and lifestyles, homosexuality and so on.
As Pope Pius XI once said, the contemporary world is so morally depraved that at any moment it could be plunged into a deeper spiritual misery than that reigning in the world when Our Blessed Redeemer was born.

Considering Types of Ideal Music

Considering Types of Ideal Music

Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira
If you pay attention to the song that the choir finished singing – Jesus dulcis memoria – you can see that there is an analogy between a man's way of speaking and this canticle. Each note is set in it as an inflection of a man’s voice when he affirms something.

When, for example, I said “when he affirms something,” I unconsciously emphasized the word “affirm” to indicate how affirmative “affirm” should be, and I also passed very quickly over “something” because “something” is vague, quick, just a brush stroke in the thought.

Prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira

Today we will continue the analysis of the UNESCO Universal Declaration of the Rights of Animals here and here). In it, we find more considerations:

Considering that genocides are perpetrated by man against animals or are threatened to be perpetrated…

Our Lady of Peace

Our Lady of Peace
Prof. Plinio Correa de Oliveira

The feast day of Our Lady of Peace, which is celebrated in Rome on January 17, is celebrated in Toledo, Spain and Hawaii on January 24, in Paris on July 9 and in El Salvador on November 23.
There are persons who consider earthly goods as supreme. For them peace is necessary to maintain these goods and to continue to have a pleasant life. According to this purely materialist conception, the principal aim of religion would be to promote well-being on earth. Eternal life is not taken into account.

Revolution and Counter-Revolution

Revolution and Counter-Revolution
Plinio Correa de Oliveira

Part I: The Revolution
Chapter I:
The Crisis of Contemporary Man
The many crises shaking the world today – those of the State, family, economy, culture, and so on – are but multiple aspects of a single fundamental crisis whose field of action is man himself. In other words, these crises have their root in the most profound problems of the soul, from whence they spread to the whole personality of present-day man and all his activities.

There Is No Equality between Man & Animals

There Is No Equality between Man & Animals

Prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira

We will start to analyze today the recent Universal Declaration of Animal Rights by UNESCO (issued October 15, 1978, without the corrections made in 1989).

Toward this end, I first need to explain Catholic doctrine regarding life in the different kingdoms of creation. The Church explains that life results from an agent that is the principle of life existent in each being. This agent is connatural to the being: It is the human soul in men, the animal soul in the animals and the vegetable soul in the plants.

The Admiration & Tenderness of Our Lady for Her Newborn Son

The Admiration & Tenderness of Our Lady
for Her Newborn Son

Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira

At Christmas, it is natural that our attention is turned toward the feast of the Birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the occasion when, in the most elevated degree, the love of a creature was manifested for God, the Creator – the affection of the heavenly Mother for her one and incomparable Son.

Crusader Spirit: True Love Is Proved by Dedication & Combativity

Crusader Spirit: True Love Is Proved by Dedication & Combativity
Prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira

In a recent meeting, I had the occasion to affirm that the there is no Catholic spirit without the Crusader spirit. I was asked to develop this theme. This is what I will do here.

The question of the Crusader spirit is rooted in the very constitution of the human spirit and mentality.

The Crusader’s Defense of Orthodoxy

The Crusader’s Defense of Orthodoxy

Prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira

Softness and sentimentalism constitute the opposite of the Crusader spirit. There are persons who have a thousand blunders in their head, as, for example, the notion that perhaps it is not good to be combative, but rather one should be amiable and kind.

Our Lady of La Salette - September 19

Our Lady of La Salette - September 19

Prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira

On September 19, 1846, Our Lady appeared to two small shepherds, Maximin Giraud and Melanie Calvat. The beautiful lady, as the children called her, appeared in an attitude of profound sadness asking prayers and penance to help her prevent the arm of her Son from falling over mankind for its sins. Our Lady also revealed to the shepherd children a secret. Since this apparition took place on the mountain called La Salette in the Diocese of Grenoble, France, a new invocation of Our Lady soon spread throughout the world – Our Lady of La Salette.

Our Lady of Las Lajas, September 16

Our Lady of Las Lajas, September 16

Prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira

In Spanish las lajas means “the rocks.” This image was imprinted on the rocks of a gorge above the Guaitara River in Colombia near the border of Ecuador. It has the singular characteristic of having been made by Angels. The image is situated inside a cave very high in the mountains, and was completely unknown until it was discovered in the mid-18th century by an Indian (see the history below).

Our Lady of Las Lajas
The picture penetrates the rock miraculously

It is not painted, but mysteriously imprinted in the rock. The colors are not applied in a surface layer of paint or other material, but penetrate deep into the rock. No one knows how the work was done. Certainly it has no natural geological cause. I have never heard of any case where nature reproduced human faces with such perfection.

The Difference Between True Elites and False “Elites”

The Difference Between True Elites and False “Elites”

Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira

In more than one progressive-inspired publication I have run into the adjective, “elitist,” needless to say employed in a strongly pejorative sense. Indeed, it makes sense because from the psychological standpoint, the progressive philosophy is a fusion of all kinds of mediocrity, triviality and even vulgarity. Thus, it is viscerally contrary to any form of refinement or kind of elite.

In 711 the Muslim Arabs invaded the Iberian Peninsula. The Visigothic King Rodrigo died facing them in the Andalusian field of Guadalete in southern Spain. Taking a position of resistance against the rapid conquest and domination of the infidel, Don Pelayo led a group of valorous knights who had withdrawn to the northern mountains of the Asturias to recoup and fight.

The Troubadours and The Decline of The Crusader Spirit

The Troubadours and The Decline of The Crusader Spirit

Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira

An excessive ‘mellowing’ of customs led to a lack of appetite for war; this, along with a growing influence of sentimentality and the action of the ‘troubadours’ put an end to the crusading spirit.

Our Lady, Queen of the Angels

Our Lady, Queen of the Angels
Prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira
In 1863 a Bernardine Sister was shown in spirit the vast desolation caused by the Devil throughout the world. At the same time, she heard the Blessed Virgin telling her it was true, Hell had been let loose upon the earth, and that the time had come to pray to her as Queen of Angels and to ask of her the assistance of the Heavenly Legions to fight against these deadly foes of God and men.
