Our Lady of the Pillar is the oldest known apparition of Our Holy Queen. In the year 40 AD, the Apostle St. James was preaching the Gospel in what is known today as Zaragoza, Spain. Disheartened after making just a few converts he prayed at the banks of the Ebro River. As he was praying with some of his disciples, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared before him atop a pillar accompanied by angels. Our Lady assured James that the people would eventually be converted and their faith would be as strong as the pillar she was standing on. Our Lady appeared to James through bilocation, as she was still living at the time of Her apparition.

In the latter times right up to the Reign of Antichrist, the enmity between the children of Mary and the children of the Devil will intensify. Prologue

There are three things contained in this (angelic) salutation. The first part comes from the Angel, Gabriel, namely, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women." The second part comes from Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, namely, "Blessed is the fruit of thy womb." The Church adds the third part, to wit, "Mary," for the Angel did not say, "Hail, Mary," but rather, "Hail, full of grace." Still, this name 'Mary,' according to its meaning, befits the Angel's words, as we shall see.
