WE HAVE MOVED!

"And I beheld, and heard the voice of one eagle flying through the midst of heaven,
saying with a loud voice: Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth....

Fr. Voigt, "Jesus Wept"

Fr. Voigt, "Jesus Wept"

Many prayers are uttered by the lips of men and women but the "Prayer of Tears" is most efficacious.  Our Lord wept over a city just as He wept at the tomb of Lazarus.  He gives us the example which gives more emphasis to His words.  St. Augustine spends a great deal of time contemplating the tears of his mother, Monica, which softened his soul and brought him to the Truth of Jesus our Lord.  Then he justifies the tears which he shed at his mother's death.  Together let us contemplate what causes the tears of God and how we must come to tears ourselves in the prayer life that grows.

FR. VOIGT: Sunday Reflection: Just Compromise a little

FR. VOIGT: Sunday Reflection: Just Compromise a little

Why don't you take the United Way money?  Simple answer:  they have compromised and begun to fund abortion.
This was and is the way the Catholic must react when they are offered "polluted pennies".  We know that we cannot associate ourselves with the ways of the world to advance in political correctness and neglect the veracity of our Lord.  Consider that Lucifer was given all the talent in the universe and was the brightest of the brightest.  He could not humble himself and praise the God Who created him.  Instead he sought to grasp at equality with God and hence he lost Divine Love forever.  What a disaster that was for him and for us.  Now the grasping serpent is bent on one thing alone:  our compromise.  "You cannot serve both God and mammon."

Fr. Voigt, Reflection on the Sunday Gospel

Fr. Voigt, Reflection on the Sunday Gospel

By nature Goodness diffuses itself while by nature evil destroys itself.  It is a simple philosophical formula that is so important to live by in these days in which a battle rages.  Our Lord makes it very clear that a good tree produces good fruit while the bad tree produces a bad fruit.  Hence you will know the tree by the fruit that it bears.  Hence we know people by the fruit that they bear.  This fruit is exposed by one's words, one's manners and one's actions.

Fr. Voigt, The Precious Blood of Jesus

Fr. Voigt, The Precious Blood of Jesus

Within the formation of the human being within the womb of one's mother, the heart begins the process of growth through the gift of blood.  Blood is the carrier of life.  Blood, also, carries within it the sin of our first parents and for this reason the Creator wishing to bring man back to His Loving Heart established a plan of rescue.  This plan of re-bonding sinful man to his Creator is summarized in the word:  Religion.

Fr. Voigt, Word and Work in the Womb

Fr. Voigt, Word and Work in the Womb

What happened when the old dispensation (Elizabeth) met the new dispensation of grace (Mary)?  The child within the womb of Elizabeth "leaped for joy."  Has it ever happened before this or after this that children within the womb communicated.  Was it telepathy?  No, it was the action of the Holy Ghost which established the mission of each of these souls within their mother's womb.  Each one of us must pass through three wombs to achieve the Beatific Vision of God.  Let us consider these womb experiences and apply them to our spiritual journey.

Fr. Voigt, The Mystery is in the Details

Fr. Voigt, The Mystery is in the Details

Michaelangelo was working diligently upon the Sistine Chapel when one of the art critic cardinals commented on how much time it was taking on a ceiling that few could see.  The artist's reply is significant:  "God sees."  That is sufficient when one is working for the Lord then all things work unto their good.  We find God in the details of our lives or we do not find Him at all.  Here is the issue which two little words cause.

Fr. Voigt, Distinct but Inseparable.

Distinct but Inseparable
Fr. Voigt

And God created man in His Image and Likeness as the book of Genesis reveals.  This revelation is the most important reflection a human being can have in order to understand a bit of the interior life of the holy Trinity.  What is it in man that can call forth the reality of the Life of God?  What would you say?  In humility St. Augustine takes man's interior life as the key to intimacy with the God Who created us, loves us and redeems and sanctifies us.  Now let us enter into the divine reflection presented by St. Augustine.

Fr. Voigt, Pentecost Sunday Reflection

Fr. Voigt, Pentecost Sunday Reflection

A Father's Word.

As a young man dad asked me to come to work on a construction site.  There he rendered a truth that impressed me then and returned later as a word of guidance.  He told me that you can tell the care of a carpenter by the order in the truck they drove.  If their truck was neat and clean, most likely their work would be the same.  Later a I learned in the study of Thomistic Philosophy that "the exterior is a manifestation of the interior."  Whatever is in us will come out of us in word or action.  So it is with our Father in heaven.  Love must expand and so in God the Love in the Father expresses itself totally in the Son and the shared Love of Father and Son expresses itself perfectly in the Holy Ghost.

Fr. Voigt, "Ask and You Shall Receive"

Fr. Voigt, "Ask and You Shall Receive"

Prior to the descent of the Holy Ghost upon the apostles the Church presents Our Lord encouraging each of us to pray with confidence.  So many, as St. James remarks in his epistles, pray without conviction and without understanding.  Consequently, their prayers are not heard and they become discouraged.  What then is necessary for the development of our prayer life?  We will consider the three necessary virtues and the three stages of prayer.

Fr. Voigt, "Where is the Good Shepherd Now?"

Fr. Voigt, "Where is the Good Shepherd Now?"

Can you see the disorder rising around you?  Do you know what the future holds for those who have not faith?  Is the Good Shepherd sleeping or waiting?  With over 60 million children slaughtered on the altar of the demon, with the overturning of the meaning of marriage, with the unbridled sexual expressions exposed everywhere, what should one think about the future of this futile world of ours.  Turn to the Good Shepherd for the answer.  Where sin abounds grace will abound all the more.  Love has a way of conquering evil in such a way that soul will be in awe at God's wisdom manifested.

Fr. Voigt, "The Ingredients of a Cross"

Fr. Voigt, "The Ingredients of a Cross"

It was on a Friday morning they took me from my cell;
and I saw they had a carpenter to crucify as well.
You can blame it on Pilate,
You can blame it on the Jews,
You can blame it on the devil,
It is God that I accuse.
It is God they ought to crucify instead of you and me;
I said to the carpenter on the tree.
For Barabbas was a murderer and they let Barabbas go;
but you are being crucified for nothing here below.
It is God they ought to crucify instead of you and me;
For God is up in heaven and He does not do a things;
with a million angels watching and they never move a wing.
It is God they ought to crucify instead of you and me,
I said to the Carpenter hanging on the Tree;
...And it was God they crucified.

Fr. Voigt, Forget the what and tell me the why...

Fr. Voigt, Forget the what and tell me the why...

Blaise Pascal remarked that the attitude is more important than the fact.  This truth comes through clearly if listeners will focus on why a person says what they say rather than on the statement itself.  As we meditate upon the Crucifixion of our Lord simply ask yourself the simple question: why are the Pharisees saying ...?  When you ask the "why" question then you begin to enter into the reasoning that underlies every non-Catholic, every atheist, every Mason.  At the core of the answer from these good souls is an emotion called "pride".

FR. VOIGT, "Reflection on Passion Sunday's Gospel"

FR. VOIGT, "Reflection on Passion Sunday's Gospel"

If you see the red sky at night, then you know it is a sailor's delight for on the morrow the sun will shine.  Note that if the premise is correct then the conclusion follows.  In our Lord's speech the premises matter a great deal. For instance, "If I say the truth to you, why do you not believe Me?" In other words the Truth is absolute which is contrary to the way of the powerful whose premise is "If I am more powerful than you, then my way dictates." Might makes right as Machievelli used to say.  But is it true?

Fr. Voigt, "Three Temptations"

Fr. Voigt, "Three Temptations"

Who told this story?  Remember Jesus separated Himself after His baptism from John and now was retreating to prepare for His Mission:  to save many souls.  Who was in that deserted spot besides Jesus?  Only Satan.  Either Satan tells the story or it is told by our Divine Lord.  At issue today our world seeks to make Jesus a myth which puts the whole of the New Testament under the category of lies.  But if our Lord entered this world to bring souls back to the Father then we must accept all the "canonized" works (Gospels and Epistles) as authentic and credible.  We conclude that Jesus told this story and for good reason as we shall discover.

Fr. Voigt, Whatever became of sin?

Fr. Voigt, Whatever became of sin?

Without any hesitation our dear Lord informed His apostles that He was going to Jerusalem and there they would hand Him over.  They would mock Him; they would spit upon Him; they would condemn Him and crucify Him.  But on the third day He would rise.  Why would all this happen?
One reason only:  sin exists and must be conquered by using its ultimate effect, death.

Fr. Voigt "Four Hearts in the World"

Fr. Voigt "Four Hearts in the World"

In every card deck there are four suits and these four suits have four hearts each indicating a different aspects of the life of man.  Our Lord speaks of the four hearts in the parable of the sower and the seed.  There are four types of soil indicating the four movements in every man's heart.  Many have forgotten that this world is the place for God to test our hearts and see whether they are prepared for true, victimal love.  If they are then they will produce a hundred fold. If not, then why not?

Fr. Voigt, "The Kingdom we long for"

Fr. Voigt, "The Kingdom we long for"

The boy looked at the door and saw inscribed:  "Da mihi animas; coeterae tolle." (Give me souls; take the rest).  As he entered the office there was kindly Don Bosco to whom the boy remarked, "Around here you deal in souls."  Exactly correct the saint responded and said "Let me form you into a saint pleasing to Almighty God."  The boy was Dominic Savio and he achieved the goal of Don Bosco's mission.  Today sanctity is needed more than at any other time in the church's history.  This is the age of the great apostasy and as the evil one pours out the demonic spirit everywhere so God must pour out His Holy Spirit into our hearts to achieve the kingdom of heaven.  So consider the five ages of man and the response that is necessary for our salvation.

Fr. Voigt, "A Little Light of Love"

Fr. Voigt, "A Little Light of Love"

There are an infinite number of ways to approach a mystery but one stands out by far when we consider the mystery of Christmas.  We will summarize our reflection with the realization that a little Light of Love entered our humanity to conquer the darkness of the demonic.
