A recent interview of the District Superior of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter in Germany, Fr. Bernhard Gerstle, FSSP, is getting a good bit of well-deserved attention in traditional circles thanks mainly to his comments concerning the SSPX, the Second Vatican Council and the sacred liturgy.

When asked in what ways the FSSP differs from the Society of St. Pius X, Fr. Gerstle said that one must first distinguish between “the moderates and the hardliners” within the SSPX.

“There exists a larger number of moderate priests, especially within the German-speaking region, who want to avoid a permanent break with Rome and are interested in an agreement.”

OK, let’s stop here…
The truth is, no one in the Society (starting with Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre) ever desired “a permanent break with Rome” properly speaking.
Rather, what has always been the desire is for “Rome” (understood to mean the Captains of Newchurch, up to and including the pope) to return to Eternal Rome – the same from which the SSPX never departed.

Commentary: Posted on a SSPX group Facebook.  This interpretation of the interview is quite revealing and we should all take the time to analyze what is going on here.  There are no accidents but rather demonic plans in the works to destroy the last shield of resistance to the modernist movement in the Church.  Certainly "nothing has changed" but everything has changed because the priests no longer warn the sheep of the impending doom.  John Vennari has lost his guts; Michael Matt gave in long ago to the New Order with the Fraternity of St. Peter, Michael Voris believes that you can stay in and go along.  When are they going to recognize that a revolution has taken place and the only solution is to excommunicate and destroy all the tainted leadership in the vital positions of the Church from the Pope on down.  You read and make up your mind.

- a "unilateral" agreement SSPX/Rome is imminent;

- they should not fear it;

- a General Chapter will be called first;

- some "document" will be signed by the SSPX.

Who has done the dividing in the SSPX? Answer: Bishop Fellay and the other pseudo traditionalists in the hierarchy of the Society 

On the heels of yet another astoundingly pathetic (interview) given by Bishop Fellay we are going to take a look at another impotent attempt to try and defend the Society over any potential unilateral recognition by Modernist Rome (without rebuttal).  Modernist Rome who has admitted in times past that the intent was to bring them under the “Conciliar tent” and essentially modernize them! How is accepting a one sided recognition from Modernists without rebuttal or first demanding conversion "considered prudence" is beyond me.  I will go through the article in question and highlight the errors, provide related blogs for your review and attempt to provide some further analysis.

Over the past few weeks I have noticed that there has been seemingly more honest efforts to try and “unite” all supposed traditionalists.  However, well intent it may be, it is simply “wishful thinking”.  I am now seeing in various forums and in "commenting blogs" an effort to try and “hash” things out amongst all the "varying camps" divided on Vatican II but this is simply delusional (although good in intent).  This is not a defeatist disposition I am taking but rather a realistic outlook.
