Cardinal Müller, Private Judgment Decides Whether Marriage Is Valid Or Not

According to Cardinal Gerhard Müller a Catholic may conclude that the marriage he contracted in front of the Church was invalid although he has no canonical proof for this.

Talking to the ultraliberal Vatican Insider (December 31) Müller claimed that if such a person enters another liaison, the second liaison would be the one valid before God.

The claim that anybody but an ecclesiastical judge may decide about the validity of a marriage was explicitly condemned by the Council of Trent (1545-1562). Without annulment every second liaison is a mortal sin. Müller therefore presupposes that the annulation process or the canonical form of the Catholic marriage are irrelevant.

Although he was fired by "Pope" Francis as the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Gerhard Müller has declared that he does not want by any means to be stylized into an opponent of Francis.

Talking to the anti-Church German weekly Zeit Müller stated that he is not part of any “ideological direction”, wether this is called liberal or conservative, left or right. To a certain extent, this is true as Müller, throughout his career, has played both sides, mainly for political reasons. Not seldom this has resulted in contradictory positions.

Müller even claimed that "Pope" Francis himself "is neither liberal nor conservative". This statement is evidently counterfactual as Francis has even become the downright leader and hero of the liberal faction in the Church.

Cardinal Gerhard Müller does not agree with "traditionalist groups” who would according to him like to see him as head of a movement against the Pope, “I will never do it”.

Müller told corriere.it (November 26) that he does not allow anyone to exploit his “negative experiences of the last few months” because as a cardinal he is “by nature with the Holy Father”.

Müller repeated that there is a “magic circle” around Francis which is concerned with “spying on alleged opponents” and classifying people as Francis' friends or enemies. Francis told Müller that he was accused of being an “enemy” what according to Müller is “an absurdity”.

Müller believes that the tensions in the Church are between “an extremist traditionalist front on some websites and an equally exaggerated progressive front”.

During an ecumenical prayer in the Lutheran "Christuskirche" in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, Germany, on July 30 Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller asked to overcome the "differences between the religious denominations from within". And, "The denominations should combine their riches and enrich each other." According to Müller the Church is no outward organisation.

Can there be any doubt that the Church is occupied by modernist heretics as She was occupied during the Arian heresy? Hold fast to Tradition. Fight the modernist disease everywhere within the confines of the true Faith. And pray the Holy Rosary daily. So, Francis has chosen to relieve Cardinal Gerhard Muller of his position and has appointed the Spanish Jesuit Archbishop Luis Ladaria Ferrer as the new Prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

The Jesuit publication America Magazine offered commentary reflective of the optimism shared by many a so-called “progressive” as a result of the move:

“It is destined to have far-reaching consequences, not the least of which is to ensure that the C.D.F. and its prefect are rowing with and not against the pope on key issues, including the interpretation of ‘Amoris Laetitia,’ synodality and cooperation with the commission for the protection of minors.”

Catholics of a neo-conservative kind, as well as many of a more traditional bent, by contrast, are reacting as if this latest development represents a major step backward in terms of defending the Faith in light of the Bergoglian offensive.

 The anticlerical Argentinean paper Clarín writes, that Pope Francis plans a radical liberal overhaul of the Roman Curia "which could come much earlier than expected". According to the paper, Francis will replace Cardinal Ludwig Müller (69), the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, whose mandate finishes on July 2nd.
Clarín writes, that Müller will be replaced by Boston Cardinal Sean O'Malley (73).

Cardinal Müller, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, talking to the German writer Martin Mosebach, a strong advocate of the Old Mass, has denied that young priests should know the Old Rite, writes German Radio Vatican.

Müller claimed that the program in the seminaries is already "tight", and that not all seminarians have solid foundations in their Christian faith and prayer life. Therefore, from a pragmatic point of view, one must be happy, if they can handle the regular curriculum - which, in contrast to the Old Rite, often does not promote neither Christian faith nor prayer life.

Pope Francis touched on this issue in the homily he gave on the occasion of the Consistory, celebrated on 19 November of this year: “The virus of polarization and animosity permeates our way of thinking, feeling and acting. We are not immune from this and we need to take care lest such attitudes find a place in our hearts”.
